  • Is it true that they replaced the high-tech OLED panel on the flip-out screen from GH4 with a much cheaper and older technology LCD panel instead? That's is not good. OLED is way more accurate...

I have heard this new GH5 will be available in two lens kits:

    1. New 12-60mm F2.8-4.0 Leica lens

    2. New 12-35mm F2.8 Panasconic lens.
Different to existing 12-35mm F2.8. Similar but cosmetic...

It doesn't? Well maybe I was thinking of FHD mode then. All I remember is having two different presets on my dial that will change from cropped mode to non-cropped mode so I can get more reach with...

Yeah the "outside broadcast" filter ;-)

I hope so, because the image quality got way worse in the high frame-rate mode on the GH4 - obviously had to skip some important processing steps to read/write that fast. With the newer, faster...

@Porky89 "If VLogL was included it would be 2.5K."

What? Where are you getting that from? How does Panasonic adding a bit of extra firmware code to their own camera end up costing 5-600 more for...

They barely mentioned this in-camera stabilisation feature in this article or did I miss something. I would have thought that was a major new feature. Anyone know how it works? Just it just shift...

yes internal at those rates all intra.

    @LukeDuciel It's still using H.264 not H.265 as far as I know.

Well don't forget that all 35mm lenses are sharpest at their center only about 10mm square so when you stick your entire MFT sensor in this sharpest area you get way better overall image frames...

Yes I'd like to know this too. I use "Ex. Tele Conv" a lot of the time.

@Foxy2012 The actual correct phrase is "wouldn't be caught dead" as in someone dislikes something so much they would never be caught doing it.

I hear even 10-bit isn't good enough for Log footage anyway - it is at least 12-bit in all the way more expensive camera systems.

Still doesn't have a plug in power adapter though does it? Ridiculous that you can't plug camera into power socket when it is mounted on tripod. Only option appears to be those fake-battery...

old codec? So you want an even more compressed, hard to work with h265 video to edit?

  • Commented on article Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 Review

I hope you don't mean online like on youtube or the like because you wont see the 4:2:2 there or anywhere online as the compression immediately goes back to a 4:2:0 mpeg variant. You'll need to...

I'm sceptical about this full frame "non-cropped" 4K mode. Anyone that knows about scaling knows unless you scale from a whole multiple 0.5, 2x then scaling produces all sorts of artifacts and...

Yeah same as all CMOS compared to CCD cameras. The GH4 will never compare to the lovely stable frames that my old Canon XL1S could produce. If the GH4 had a CCD like sensor like that it would be...

I hope they managed to improve focusing speed in 4K mode - it is horribly slow and inaccurate on the GH4 in 4K mode compared to its full speed in 1080P mode. They definitely needed faster...

  • @DNature. Yeah i saw that SanDisk mentioned in Photokina reports alright. Wonder how much it's going to cost!

  • Yes I agree, I would always use proxies if I was doing a big job. Can't understand why some people basically decompress the video and write out massive files which their machine then has to deal...
