Fantastic price point! Competition is great, should drive prices down of Tamron and Sony GM. Ultimately, consumers WIN

Ramjager: The Elephant in the room DPR refuses to acknowledge..battery life.
670 frames per battery.
Are Sony really serious or are they just completely oblivious to reality?
Last year in Alaska we took with two pro bodies 6800 photos on 1 battery per camera.
So im shooting with A7R4 thats 11 batteries over two chargers.
Are you for real?
Do Sony expect people to do what spens all night swapping 11 batteries over two chargers?
I mean cmon.
When will people put some pressure on them to bump up the battery to the capacity of D5’s and 1DxMk2’s.
Im sorry but this battery situation is utterly ridiculous and being ignored because everyone thinks what you shoot from home all day?
Try going to Africa, Alaska etc and shoot from first light to last and later then somehow try to sleep and magically recharge almost a dozen batteries.
These cameras are far from pro tools until this gets fixed.
We need bug batteries, multi battery chargers and way more than 670 images per battery.

It's only a rating. Users have reported Z batteries shooting 1800+ images per charge.

Small 70-200/2.8. Well done Canon!

I don't get all the negativity with this design.. 24-70/2.8's are also extending and they are pro grade for pro use.

Digging that classic rangefinder look. Well suited for walk around or in tourist-mode.
Wonder how AF compares to a6100.. Was it mentioned anywhere if it inherited X-T3 AF?

gaul: Am starting to think the readers here who think DPR is paid by Sony have a point..

Sony pushing a V7 of a compact camera.. DPR instantly pushes no less than 8 articles, text boxes, videos, images on the same one camera..

No other manufacturer gets this treatment.. Odd

@gaul - But wait, there's more.. when the updated RX10 is announced in a few days.

Very capable little camera. Just needs computational photography and it will be game over for compacts.

T3: It's only July. I wonder what Sony has in store for the remainder of the year. I don't think they are done yet.

Recent lens announcements and this, plus 3 more cameras soon. good time to be alive.

Suave: A bit disappointing - too large and too expensive. I was hoping for a true pancake for no more than half the price of this.

Perhaps true pancake lens will come out at f3.5

uh oh.. people will lose sleep until their cameras review get updated.

catlyn: Now the gap in the Sony super-telephoto/wildlife range has been filled with native lenses. Even more reasons for some photographers (that aren't too deep in any other system) to ”sell everything and go with Sony”, as well as for newcomers.

from 12mm to 600mm (plus TC's)

Yup, lots of new fake accounts will be created
