I just updated my lens using the OI Share app, it went fine. I didn't find a noticeable difference, but I didn't test it in a real use scenario yet.

Placed 23rd in the challenge.

A new firmware has been released for the 300mm F4 PRO: Ver.1.6 (Jan.26 2023) (1) Improved sleep recovery operation. Joint update service for Interchangeable Lens ...

Bird diameter is inversely proportional to outside temperature. Nice shot!

I have a 300mm f4 and when I pan up/down or left/right quickly while half pressing the shutter so the IS kicks in, I can hear the stabilization rattling. It is not super loud, but I can definitely ...

Thank you for your feedback! I followed the same procedure, but no luck. There is a lot of light pollution in my urban area, plus there were some faint clouds so I'll try again when the skies are ...

Great shot! I just tried to replicate your result (I also have the OM-1 and 300 f4) but no luck. The HR composite kept failing. How many failed shots did you go through before succeeding? The ...

Thank you for the kind words :) It's not a "wow" picture so I wasn't expecting anything ranking-wise!

I shot half a dozen of 30 pictures burst to get this result. The birds were quite predictable, but pre-focusing on the predicted impact zone was tough! So it was 50% prediction, 50% luck.

Outstanding set of images! Can you tell us more about the tern photo? Did you pan to track the birds, which is very difficult given their speed? Or did you pre-focus on the impact spot?
-
With ProCapture it is quite easy! Just spot some diving gulls, focus roughly where the dive and voilà. If you don't have that feature in your camera, it may be a little more difficult.
-
I had a lot of fun with the diving gulls at the local river. ProCapture is really useful in predictable-but-not-so-predictable situations! This is not the best shot by any means, the focus is on ...

Placed 11th in the challenge. After searching for the long-eared owl for a long time (more than a year), I finally managed to find their spot! There were 3, either sleeping or staring at me. There are really tiny in real life, they look much bigger on picture for lack of scale.

I strongly suggest you update via the OI.Share app. It is hassle-free and much less stressful than using the somewhat dodgy OM Workspace software.
-
Great pictures as always ! But not so great regarding carbon emissions :/
-
It is a WOW storage case then :) Joke aside, the previous generation storage case is almost (if not completely) identical.

I know how to focus, this shot is in focus. I it just shot with rather poor lighting, in less than ideal shooting conditions and with high ISO. Add to that the massive cropping to make the images ...

Two days ago I was out with a friend shooting birds in awful weather (cold, snow etc). We were at the same location, and essentially took the same pictures which gave me the opportunity to compare ...
