I would love to have this technology on my pro gear to protect all my cat photos from being discovered and being accused of overkill, and that a smart phone would have sufficed.

dharmagreg: Why don't we all join and start posting cat photos and the like, so when people go on the site they think that is all there is!

I cannot see any flaws in this strategy.

Just searched for cat photos on the site and there are 27,040 free cat photos already! My strategy may need re thinking.

mr_landscape: iPhone, iPhone, this iPhone, apple have this, apple have those. Iphone, iphone, iphone.

For God sake, stop this universal crap about outdated technologies, in terms of image quality for sure.

6 yo Nokia 808 Pureview easily outperforms this "shiny new" device in resolution and overall sharpness in daylight.

Open your eyes new thingie lovers

better now?

I had one of these but kept getting hassled at airport security when I tried to fly with it in my hand luggage. Sold it to a press photographer for the White House and assured him he will be fine using it.

Why anybody would put money down on a Kickstarter project is beyond me.

dharmagreg: I don't know what all the fuss is about. I would rather have my old iPhone 6 get a bit slower then to unexpectedly freeze or shut down in an emergency.

First world problem.

Even at 50% speed is fast enough for most tasks except gaming, and I don't play games on my phone.

Trued1: The most honest thing for Apple to do is to take a bite of the sour apple and offer customer worldwide a reasonable compensation.
a, a decent trade-in value lets say 50% of the initial price for the original buyer
b, a loyalty incentive with a 75% discount on the purchase of a new phone when returning the old.
This could "clean" up the market of bad phones and give Apple a better reputation.
Apple has the finances to take this, the management wight have been negligent in scenario planning. What has happened now was apparently not planned for, but nevertheless the company has a responsibility to be honest.

You must be joking...right?

Stigg: the very artificial and painfully staged photos of the boy and girl are uncomfortably perverse for me to view and in my opinion, demeaning to children everywhere. these photos carry with them the stench of child exploitation as the children in question are treated as mere props in the cold calculations of the photographer's business plans.

i've taken thousands of photos of children as a professional over the decades and always encouraged them to express their true feelings despite the parents' demand for artificial props and poses. most of the parents later thanked me for true photos of their children. let children be children and not pawns and props for some cold, calculating money-hungry adult.

That is little bit harsh Stigg. You make the photographers who took those images out to be monsters.

eugene1979: Not impressed by the photos at all. No story, no interesting composition, no soul. Also could be done on any camera and lens, not just on A9 + Batis lenses. This is just a promo of non-profit "The Giving Lens", and nothing else. Waste of time.

@Tommi

"One who doesn't present their portfolio or work everytime some requires to see "qualification" doesn't mean they don't have any"

It is a very good indicator though.

Sorry eugene1979 you have no credibility. Show us some of your pics so we can all learn from such a master photographer you must be to make those comments.

Thanks Nicolas I enjoyed your story and image. So many tossers on DPR these days commenting rubbish. Hopefully it will not stop others from having their story and photo published on here.

YiannisPP: Wow..just wow! I needed to unearth my password to comment on DPR after many years! I mean I haven't been following the releases in later years (my RX00 I still does a marvelous job), but I thought by now the top flight mobiles will have surely surpassed consumer digicams of the past. And then I look at these samples...and they are amazingly bad..I don't even know where to begin with. Yet I'm sure people will convince themselves that they're awesome, or at least good enough, DxO or whatever it's called will pronounce this iPhone the best invention of the 21st century so far and people will happily depart with their hard-earned $$$ to be able to get such crappy photos. I'm pretty sure that if one analyzes modern consumers' blood, they'll find sheep DNA injected in there. My 100$ Microsoft Lumia takes better photos than this and that's no exaggeration. That, or whatever software is at work here (HDR, whatever) does a horrible job. Anyway, rant over, enjoy your iPhones people!

You and the 2 other people in the world who own a $100 Lumina enjoy yours as well.

Did you actually read the article and we should believe you instead?
