Ayoh: How do they justify a $600 price premium over a Sony a6300 when they essentially have the same specs?

people will pay it that´s it.
they know that fuji fans will pay the price.

it´s like handbags... don´t ask a woman why a small handbag costs 3000 euro.

marc petzold: Given about all the buzz here - yesterday, in just >1h over 1000 Comments, i hope the K-1 would really sell well, for Ricoh, for Pentax...to survive as a competitor for Canikon & Sony. The market needs alternatives, competition is also good for pricing.

if the comments would be all positiv...

pentax is a niche player.

thought i have to admit the few pentax fanboys make a s much noise as the sony fanboys.

Zvonimir Tosic: Sorry, D610, 6D nor D750 cannot be used as peers to judge AF in the K-1. All those use more forgiving lower-res sensors and don't have anything even remotely as sophisticated as the pixel-shift mode.

K-1 uses the 36MP sensor, and has a new AF with 25 cross points for a very serious reason: the image must be in perfect focus because the 36MP will pay you big penalties — especially in pixel shift mode.

In fact, some more experienced reviewer would presume (and even expect) that K-1 must be slower because of the extreme demands which the sensor, and special shooting modes, put on the camera and its AF system.

This is serious science here in K-1, serious photography stuff, and very serious tech that has certain requirements and needs apt minded folks to appreciate and value correctly.

pixel shift for moving objects.....?

i doubt they used pixel shift when testing AF tracking etc....

speculatrix: The cost of this camera is it's quite high, why wouldn't you buy a micro4/3rds system or Nikon 1 or Canon EOS-M system instead?

yes nikon 1 is practically dead.
EOS-M is bigger.

bought this camera for my mother.. she loves it.
great IQ and good size/weight.

ozturert: So K1 is a typical Pentax camera: Boat load of functions, excellent ergonomy, very good image quality, inexpensive for what it can do, but bad AF performance (worse than competition).

lol.... it does not even come close to other DSLR´s.
mentioning the D5 is a typical fanboy tactic.

DPreview sure does not expect D5 performance from this camera.

zakaria: i have had k1 since month+.i can assure that k1 is the best pentax dslr ever considering af. i also have d610 since nearly a year it is good camera but it cant lock the focuss at dim light. k1 can lock the focus easy.
k3 stayed with me 6 months and i sold it because i never satisified with it . most k3 pics was blured and not sharp. with k 1 i get sharp and clarity photos when tracking my kids using the 33 focus points.

"Single point AF-C, which we expect DSLRs to excel at, proved to be highly inconsistent and failed about half of the time, while subject tracking proved to be even more problematic in our bike test - failing more than 85% of the time"

someone IS telling BS here.. now we only have to figure out who....

Clearly this camera just can't focus and has very serious AF issues. Is it possible to release such a camera to the market? Which manufacturer would be that mad?

and what other manufacturer would earn a Silver Award at DPreview with such a camera?

On article DxOMark confirms Canon EOS 1D X II sensor advances (217 comments in total)

DXO is not making it public how exactly they reach the score.

the 1DX MK2 is nearly everywhere better than the D5 and only gets the same score.

what is the reason that DXO does not make it public how exactly they weight the scores?

also DR only seems to be really important at low ISO, why?

sony for example has worse DR at high ISO than canon cameras.... yet sony scores always better at DR.

Nobby2016: well maybe for some regions it got better but for my region it got worse.

the images from 2015 have less detail and all look all very brownish.

the new images look unsharp. it is very good to see because there is a split between 2010 and 2015 images going right through my hometown.

http://i.imgur.com/IlwgDFu.jpg

that´s not good!

but google earth offers the option to view older images too.
so i can manually choose that it shows me the better images from 2010.

i can´t turn of 3D because it´s not on. :)

BaldCol: Comments on DPR about new features to PS or LR are so predicable now. No-one actually comments on the features. Just people banging on and on and on and on ad nauseum about how you pay for the software.

there are not much new features to talk about.....

crop tool?
have done that before.... needed 5 more clicks.

JDI enhancements... what to talk about?

it is no update it is an UPGRADE.. you have to install the plugins again for 2015.5.

tell him to read the FAQ.....

Link | Posted on Jun 21, 2016 at 15:08 UTC

that "major" release is a bad joke.

i think thanks to subscription adobe has cut the development team by 80%.

a bunch of JDI features and already existing features with 2 or 3 more checkboxes.

BIG DEAL ADOBE!!!!

Marty4650: Sounds like an amazing camera at a very good price.

Kudos to Pentax, who keeps producing great products. It really is baffling that they don't get larger market share.

"And cheaper cameras make bigger volumes. And when someone buys entry level camera, he usually stays with the system when he upgrades."

yep and that´s for the vast majority not pentax...
