newe: Not too bad. My Epson 4990 is tons better, but slower....as this app progresses, who knows....also, if you are on a flat surface, one needs to watch out with shadows.

yeah no competition to my Epson V850 but hey i don´t carry that scanner with me all the time.

In reply to:

CE3: I think it'll be pretty difficult for the Karma to sell after this recall, so I wouldn't be suprised if the plan to resume shipping is cancelled. It's biggest competitor is the DJI Mavik, and the Mavik is more compact and portable than the Karma.

it´s not only recalled kid..... it´s a bad product overall.

we have to send a strong message to such jerks.

people get sued for thousands of dollars for downloading ONE stupid MP3 file.

such vandals need a lesson.

it can´t be that the industry is protected but the nature is not, because there is no lobby behind it.

i would pay for you going to jail without a blink of an eye....lol.

probably you are one of the jerks who think such stunts are funny.

i am a liberal but it´s people like you who give liberals this stigma of being idiotic hippies.

these are not poor kids from a bad neighborhood. they are doing this for fame and fortune.

In reply to:

Stephan Def: Well... this wouldn't come as much of a surprise, even though Nikon is currently denying it.

I have been following Nikon Cameras since 08-09. Nikon has made such a boat load of mistakes during that time, its too many to get into details about here. One of the more serious ones is not making a serious effort for reliable software support, it seems like software has zero meaning or priority to them. Discontinuing Capture/NX2, without even offering a decent explanation about what went wrong, and why they were not able to make an effort to continue that product is exemplary to how oblivious their management is about what to do. They don't have a clue when it comes to software or how to properly handle the business aspects of software.

It seems like they have consistently worked against what their customers actually need. They have a really weird business model, and an even stranger view of the world down there. It seems like they are in a virtual reality time capsule.

no they are not denying it:

i don´t know why they put out two letters (in a matter of hours) that say exactly the opposit....

Nobby2016: nikon says reports are wrong:

http://www.nikon.com/news/2016/1108.htm

it seems the decision how many people must go are not made yet.

just posted what the imbeciles at nikon posted:

"There were media reports such as in The Nikkei this morning regarding Nikon's restructuring plan centering on headcount reduction during several years. Nikon has made no announcement in this regards.

Although Nikon is constantly studying various management options including headcount rationalization for strengthening company’s profitability mainly of Semiconductor Lithography and Imaging Products Businesses, nothing has been decided at this time.

Should any facts pertaining to this matter are decided, Nikon will immediately make an announcement.
"

your post from nikon was made later.
it´s not my fault when the right hand at nikon does not know what the left does....

(unknown member): I'd suggest that over the past decade, Nikon's senior management has been more noteworthy for their unsurpassed arrogance and short sightedness than anything else (ex., "American consumers have big hands.")

There's little love loss in watching these fellows tank. Too bad for the line employees, however.

except for trump.... he needs small cameras for his tiny hands.

wint: I only think such news discourages anyone buying Nikon from now on.

outside the enthusiast circles this news will be ignored.

i bet the customer nikon makes the most money with, will not hear/care about this.

pros will stick with nikon.
consumers will buy it until something happens that affects them directly.

a guy buying a 500-1000 euro DSLR does not care about this.
people on photography forum do... but the majority of customers out there do not.

but the outlook for nikon as company is sure not good.

FantasticMrFox: Sad. I am a Pentaxian, but out of all the other manufacturers I like Nikon the most. Canon seems lazy to me and resting on their laurels, behind in image quality and AF compared to Nikon, whereas Sony comes across as extremely pushy.

If I had to pick one camera manufacturer to not survive the decade, it would certainly not be Nikon ...

a pentaxian complaining about canons AF ... good joke. :-)

and the only thing nikon is actually a bit better at is AF tracking.
it´s one part of the AF system....

behind in image quality.... you mean for people who like to push shadows 6 stops instead of 4 stops.
yeah well.... 4 stops...6 stops. as if that has any real impacts
but hey dpreview has to test something and needs to give a rating... even when it´s differences no normal person cares about....lol,
