Nixyz: Why no focus distance scale on lens?

I love to use zone focusing especially for street where looking at the viewfinder is not always and option.

aksu purist: You can get X-T3 used for this price and its full weather sealed magnesium alloy vibranium body with x-t4 AF

Yes you can get the body for cheap but what about lenses?

Fun project, teaching you what goes inside a camera. I hope that soon we can fit a module to convert analogs into digital.

snapa: Why not simply use your cell phone camera which would take MUCH better pictures than this POS. Plus, you can take video with your phone camera too!
It seems like something it is for people with much too much time and money on their hands. What a complete waste of time, besides the IQ samples were terrible, so what's the point?

"Why not simply use your cell phone camera"

Where's the fun in that? :)

bloodreyna: As this article is waxing poetic on the affordability of their top of the line camera they fail to way poetic on the obscene pricing of the pictured zoom lens. Fact is at $7,500 this lens is absurdly overpriced. Now, people cry about Canon all the time but look at the RF 100-500mm. It is smaller, lighter, and only $2,699 by comparison. Plus it will own the Olympus all day when it comes to focusing speed.

You can actually buy an R5 plus RF 100-500mm for $6,598 which is $1,000 cheaper than the Olympus zoom on it's own. And if you want you can throw the RF 100-500mm on whatever APS-C RF camera Canon eventually comes out with if they decide to pander to the "equivalence" crowd.

I don't do telephoto stuffs but I can imagine that going above 150mm, wider DoF is harder to achieve than "bokeh." This is when crop sensors have an advantage than their bigger counterparts.

x2 crop factor plus light system is totally usable and practical in such scenarios.

Different tools for different strokes. Lets just be happy that new gears are still coming and we got a lot to choose from.

Albert Valentino: As a happy user of Olympus gear I was hoping to hear some interesting news. Sadly, i learned nothing. A gripe I have is the new company name, OMDS. A catchy name helps with marketing. Zuiko seemed like a logical choice since that was the optics group that designed their superb glass. OMDS seems is a name that has no personality and requires an explanation. Get a bunch of photographers together and ask what they shoot? i shoot Nikon, I shoot Pentax, I shoot a Leica.... then the last guys says, I have a OMDS, and people ask what is an OMDS?

Olympus made great cameras and lenses, but sadly, they have/had terrible marketing, if they market at all. They should have simply named their m43 format ‘mirrorless 43’ but instead they marketed the ‘m’ as ‘micro’ 43. The 35mm guys go tit right and stole, I mean, used, the name Full Frame. One name is strong and macho, the other, micro, is diminutive and a tougher sell to guys.

Now OMD and PEN can be on the same camera name.

@bloodreyna you talk like "background blur" is everything in photography.

I almost thought canon would release a ball camera made of glass.

lattesweden: My vintage cameras already have working meters so not a product for me, but it makes me happy that this type of accessories are made so that those cameras that don't have built in meters or broken meters can continue to work.

Agree with this. Also, considering some batteries (mercury) are no longer in the market and user has improvise at the cost of compensating settings to make up for the voltage difference from time to time.

JackM: Meh. Now release a FF digital version of the MX, which accepts all legacy Pentax lenses and I'll buy one.

This is what I'm also wishing for. And I hope they can keep the same form factor in both body and lens.

TomCodyPleasedToMeetYa: I read the comments first then watched the video.

I was fully expecting him to be jumping in front of people and snapping shots inches from people's faces. I expected people to be horrified by the intrusion. I expected something like Bruce Gilden who gets right into people's faces and uses flash. I expected people responding aggressively to the intrusion like they do with Gilden on the street.

I watched the video and saw NONE OF THIS. I saw a street photographer discreetly taking shots in a pretty blase way. He got in the face of one Western woman. That was it. Most of it was subtle and not that intrusive.

The outrage on here is ridiculous and probably has a racist tinge.

It is not discreet. He's blocking the subject's path that the subject has to adjust.
