emyr evans: Thanks for the video guys. A couple of comments:

1. The 1.75 crop - don't you have a 2X crop on your GHs? I never hear people moan about this. Moreover, isn't Super 35 of a similar crop factor?

I too am disappointed that Canon didn't have the processor power to do a full-sensor read out, but I'll work round it.

2. You put a £200 EF10-18m lens on a 4K camera and call it soft? Of course it is.

Looking forward to the full review - thanks again :-)

@Steve

Than why is this only mirrorless camera which can take only ONE (1) image with electronic shutter ?

joe_leads: I‘m going to say only something for the camera. At Photokina Canon had a nicely presented photo gallery to demonstrate both their large format printers and the EOS R. The images in that gallery looked great, so there is no problem to produce your next photo exhibition with it. And it has a nice grip.

Than why would you buy a new camera when you can do that with old one

bluevellet: I'm surprised they didn't play with the 28-70 f/2 lens. Probably the most interesting thing about this camera/system.

Canon 24-70 f/2.8 is 800g
Canon 24-70 f/4 is 600g
Canon 28-70 f/2 is 1400g

I really don't see a point in that f/2 option
it does not really have a wide end
28mm is standard street focal lenght and it's super heavy compared to others

Yes it's another option but I don't really see the point of that option.

I would not carry around such heavy lens with such short zoom range around.
1.4kg lens

Hello ? ?

No sensor crop factor when shooting in 4K mode up to 30p
When Shooting 4K/50/60p the crop factor is 1.18X

So no this is not like M50 and unlike M50 this has AF in 4k and 4k 60fps
10bit and so on...

arbux: Dpreview is free for readers.
Buying camera magazines cost money.

Who from complaining photographers keeps buying paper magazines, supporting professional journalism?

Dpreview gets money with ads. You don't get anything with that site

for now it does not make any money. Make everything free to get user base and than remove the free part

photogeek: Didn’t these have a cloth shutter? That’ll probably disintegrate after a couple of rolls due to age.

I don't think that person who buys this camera will use it...

retr01976: Leica ,do your self a favor and start making reasonably priced cameras. I know it goes against who Leica is, but it's not a bad marketing move. Bring some of that design and technology down to a new market segment. People hate Leica for the price, but love Leica for the design. If they want to make some serious cash, start thinking like Fuji...

You know that they can't meet the demand for M10 ?

"Autofocus performance is lens-dependent"

Doesn't this apply to all cameras ?

I don't think that any Canon with 85mm 1.2 is as fast as it could be at single AF, especially AF servo

On article Sharp's new 8K camera is $77,000 (203 comments in total)
In reply to:

Tommi K1: "All those features don't come cheap, though. With a price tag of $77,000 the 8C-B60A will be out of reach for enthusiasts and pro-sumers but it will help big broadcasters and proucers drive 8K and help manufacturers, such as Sharp, push the sales figures for 8K displays."

This is the problem of the DPR. Everything in price is counted like from the standpoint of the hobbyist who between few years puts about 800€ to new camera gear.

Like look at the PhaseOne monochrome thread about its price, people just whining "Oh, no one is going to buy it!" and yet professionals go and buy.

Same thing is there, that 77 000€ is dirty cheap for that camera and who gets the broadcast rights will buy a few dozens of those cameras because every single camera will pay itself back folded multiple times.

You don't do business by being cheap, you invest big money and you will make it many times over. That is how the business is done, not by whining "Oh, that body is 2000€ for so tiny sensor!"

Not in Japan...

EcoR1: Why does this look so different than most cameras? Oh hey, there is no blackout! Excellent.

Well this is not live preview. Camera is showing last frame captured without blackout
It's same with a6500 that shoots 11fps or 8 fps with livepreview.
This is not stacked sensor.

mr.izo: sony did bigger battery?? don't tell me next thing is more lenses, which are affordable?
beside that, arIII looking nice..

edit:
"Use of the larger NP-FZ100 battery increases the battery life by 2.2x, meaning a CIPA rating of 650 shots per charge when using the rear LCD or 530 shots per charge with the EVF. This can be increased using the optional VG-3EM battery grip, which it shares with the a9."

You mean vice versa probably, 650 shots with evf and 530 on back screen, right? and don't tell me that grip uses different battery that main camera does..

No. EVF uses more power than LCD

lukecookphoto: What is it with Canon and the reluctance to put 4k in stuff? It's absurd, not having 4k now is almost as bad as not having 1080P a few years ago.

Yeah if they had nice 1080p video I would not care about 4k that much
