Shiranai: Canon is the master of trolling:
Sony brings cameras with hundreds of AF points - Canon releases cameras with thousands.
Sony hypes about their AF speed - Canon brings world's fastest full frame AF with speed up to 0.05 sec and sensitivity down to -6 EV
Sony brings 5 stop IBIS - Canon brings 5 stop in-lens stabilization with dual sensing.
Sony offers 4 year old FF entry for $1000 - Canon releases new $1300 camera including adapter.

Let the games begin.

You are a victim of marketing. " thousands AF points" and "-6 EV AF" is complete BS. Canon EOS R is not even close to Sony AF or even Fuji AF

liopleurodon: My takeaway form this is that Nikon having base ISO 64 is a big competitive advantage, especially for landscape shooters.

That is right 64 is base ISO for those cameras

trungtran: So they had all this along and decided to unlock it, looking like heroes now.

I would like stability/performance right from the start and if they can add features later.
I don't want unstable camera so they need to fix it later

Fuji cameras are ready from the start new features are just the bonus.

I'm grateful for focus stacking and up to 15min shutter speed was added later also F-log and lots of other things.

Some people would kill for Canon 6D mk2 with nice 4k video but you will not see that (unless magiclantern)

Yeah right just like canon updated 6D mk2 to 4k and gave it 120fps 1080p and 15 minutes shutter and focus stacking...

Software takes time and fuji puts that software when it's ready. They don't wait for another model

Right.............

but it looks normal
Canon and Polaroid images look gritty and oversharpened

Rich Evans: Let me start with the good Oly points here:
-Great build quality and WS
-I am sure the camera feels great in the hand (buttons, dials, etc)
-Live ND is neat-o

And that is IT.

A 3k USD mFT cam. that:
-DOESNT beat the best EVF on mFT
-DOESNT have the fastest FPS or AF on mFT
-DOESNT improve on screen
-DOESNT increase DR/high ISO/resolution (Welcome to 2012 everyone)
-ISNT on par with the A9/D500 (let alone of the 3x cheaper a6400) in AF-C

This is an E-M1II had too MANY DOUGHNUTS! It is basically ME!

Many mFT die hards were vouching for this cam and singing its praises before they even saw it. Promising "A9 is dead", "D500 is destroyed", "on the same league as the D5". Now it is here and it is a HUGE nothing burger.

Clearly Pana saw what Oly was cooking and NOPED the hell out of mFT. And after seeing this I say: Good on them.

And for those who said that Oly was going to "rule" the mFT niche. This is NOT the way to do it.

And please for the love of ALL that is holy BUY NEWER SENSORS

Hey Rich I did not know that you are camera nerd !

David610: The EVF should have been 3.69 mp ... like the X-T3.

And that is why they put low resolution LCD on the back ?

The Fat Fish: I’d love to see Fuji do something similar. Full X-Trans support in Lightroom and Photoshop would negate the biggest downside to the Fuji system and would make me regret selling my X-E3.

Many pro photographers use lightroom with fuji cameras without problem and create amazing images.

Camera Conspiracies: The DPAF sucking is the biggest shocker here. Canon's major advantage over other cameras is now jerky and unreliable. How did they let that happen?

I think it's pretty obvious that when Nikon announced their countdown to mirrorless release, Canon rushed to put out their unfinished product instead of completing it and working out the kinks. The pressure of competition got to them.

They got that flippy screen though ;)

And that sensor is not really for mirrorless since it has slow readout speed
They need both but I don't think they can do that for camera that will have reasonable price

worldaccordingtojim: Nikon video looks like 5 year old, over sharpened Canon 1080P. It brings you back to the day when you have to turn down the sharpening just to hope for some detail. The Sony a73 looks great with the default profile.

I can't wait to hear from all the color scientists.

Than why they did not do that ?

Can you turn off sharpening ? Can you show us how that looks like ?

celestialemissary: You could add a lot more to that list.

Well you asked...

Why can't you shoot more than 1 image with electronic shutter ?
Why can't you shoot 1080p 60 when you have EF-S lens ?
Why can't you shoot more than 3 fps with liveview and focus ?
Why can't you use face detect in continuous mode ?

Also this camera has flash sync speed 1/200 but Matt Granger was only getting 1/125

If you search for it you can find more
I think that there is a problem when using C-Log histogram is gone

emyr evans: Thanks for the video guys. A couple of comments:

1. The 1.75 crop - don't you have a 2X crop on your GHs? I never hear people moan about this. Moreover, isn't Super 35 of a similar crop factor?

I too am disappointed that Canon didn't have the processor power to do a full-sensor read out, but I'll work round it.

2. You put a £200 EF10-18m lens on a 4K camera and call it soft? Of course it is.

Looking forward to the full review - thanks again :-)

Oh so you don't need anything that canon can't do.

Have a nice day Steve :)

Steve you can have good video and good photo capabilities in one camera. But not in canon

I ask again
"Than why is this only mirrorless camera which can take only ONE (1) image with electronic shutter ?"

This is photo releated question!
Fuji can do 30fps with electronic shutter and EOS R can do just single shot.
