KjellRS: It's a mix between impressive and "16-18 hour days? Here in Europe their bosses would be in jail." No matter how they must say they like on camera I don't think they'd mind having at least one more guy. Probably two.

Or at least an assistant to do the maintenance runs.

NoSasaeng: "Around 3,000 images are taken in low-scoring games while high-scoring games can see upwards of 7,000 images captured"

Seeing that I take around 4000 images during a 2:30 hour concert this is actually pretty impressive. I always thought I had to many.
It's a pain to go through so many pics so I can't imagine how it must be to take 7000 pics in one hour of game.

Unless they're using a 1dxIII (3) or Sony A9II, I doubt they're even saving to RAW in the first place. Shooting RAW+JPG fills up the buffer quicker. Take the 1dxII (2) : Buffer depths were 196 JPEGs, 57 RAW files and 42 RAW+JPEG files.

FredBGG: Wearing masks , but with beards. Someone needs to tell these people to shave. All medical masks carry a warning that facial hair renders them close to useless.

Very poor professional standard to not get at least basic information about professional use of masks.

If they were wearing n95's , then yeah. But these are the looser fitting medical masks and their beards are fairly short. But I totally get you. At the beginning of the pandemic , many male photographers were like, safety first... but many were with beards, wearing an n95 but the construction kind with the exhale port. #facepalm

I have noticed one small change, but just a few weeks ago anyone had the ability to view images on a public IG account via a browser: https://www.instagram.com/dpreview/ and not have to login into the platform. Now the site is asking for a login. How long since this has been updated?

It's a quick fix for IG. Like Youtube then can have the option on whether the account holder wants their work embedding. Meanwhile, folks who are most concerned can set their account to private or douse the image in a ugly watermark. And help their fellow photographers by pressuring IG to change and not support the editorials that do sneaky things like this.

M Lammerse: As a photo journalist myself some tips:

- Try NOT to stand out, both what you wear or by color
- Don't wear an expensive coat, due to the hard pulling, scuffling (of colleagues) or due to rioters/police (think about paint, glass, fireworks, pieces of teargas- sound grenades or other garbage
- Theft (they will take this coat and leave your photo gear alone)
- Don't put a lot of gear into your pockets, use a bag it's more practical, comfortable and safer

This post ^^ x10. But many photojournalists barely or never come into contact with tear gas to warrant that worry and scuffling? anyway. This isn't a jacket for those working as a photojournalist. It's more for people who want to try to look like one. There is no look. That's the thing. It's always best to blend in with the regular crowd. Like Nat Geo Barbie all over again. They should call it a "I'm hip, look at me" street photography jacket.

Wish it was 3"x4" or at least 2.5"x3.5" . 2.7"x2.7" is about a tad larger than the area of a credit card oh and the square crop isn't quite as useful.

Even IE10 shows "Likes".

Techo: These coupon terms are a bit confusing. In the grocery retail world there are manufacturer coupons and clipless. Under which rules are these instant coupons working under? Under the manufacturer coupon rule, the customer is paying tax from the pre-discount amount. Also, in NYC, under bogo (buy 1 get 1) deals, customers are supposed to be charged tax on the retail price for both items, even though they're technically paying the amount for one. e.g. buy 1 lens cloth for $5 , get the other free, you pay tax off of $10.

Buy 1 Get 1 rules. In some cases stores are compensated for the coupons/discounts by the distributor or manufacturer. So the store might get $5 reimbursed for that free item in a later exchange. I'm not an accountant or attorney so I have no idea how that affects the tax issue, but the tax for bogo's free item is collected. I guess it's treated like a manufacturer coupon.

On article Hands-on: What you need to know about the new Leica SL2 (525 comments in total)

The rear of the camera looks to have had a major redesign to the location of the buttons and the main part being that they finally added text to the caption-less buttons.

Lin Evans: Love the idea by Alejandro Prieto with the Jaguar, but please leave your politics out of the equation Alejandro. It's BS that a fence will "destroy the jaguar population in the United States" any more than it will destroy the jaguar population in Mexico.

Politics aside. The issue I have is the image of the animal is a projection. So there's no real wildlife in the photo. The photo of the cougar was taken some place else?

This is really good news. Best I've read all week. Let's just see how long it takes Canon to actually release the firmware. Seeing they've taken this request more seriously has redeemed some more faith in me for them.

Old Cameras: People complain about lack of 24p

Canon announces 24p update

Please complain about 24p update

Short version: people complain

The complainers who are complaining now are mostly in the "why do we need 24p" camp and the jokers thinking 24p is just for cinema shooters. Those like myself who couldn't even consider the 90D due to this lacking feature, are happy(er) ;)

I'm a dark theme lifer ;)

I was hoping it wouldn't be tied to the OS settings but rather just the app itself. Just like the DPreview site.

Neither white or black is optimal. A lighter Gray is better.

manos234: Woh! I'm indeed surprised (in the positive mood) that DPR made such a post. I really do believe that, together with the technological news, DPR should make posts like this one more often. They could help pixel peepers realize what photography is.

R.I.P.

@Leicalika , Peter Lindbergh passed away last week. Not as influential as Frank, IMHO, but still an A lister in the photography world. I felt a post about him could've been warranted.

Techo: The higher mp count and 11 fps would've made this a great all around camera. Except, there's no PC socket. No 24P at any resolution. I was 'almost' ready to forego the no dual card and use this cam as a secondary video and backup body. Thing is I would've been fine with the 7dmkII for another year but the video codec is so highly compressed out of cam that it's embarrassing to look at when compared to what colleagues bring in who are shooting with Fuji or Sony. Darn, the D500 is looking better these days. C'mon Canon. Some of us really don't want to switch. Make it harder for us to do so.

Good, yes. Great, no. Removing features people get used to is one thing. Judging it by a stills camera standard, why no PC sync? taking away 24 when even the 80D had it? It's the Canon fans who are upset. As a life long Canon shooter, I was looking forward to having my next new camera purchase be a Canon camera. Others have long moved on.
