    @anticipation_of, did you mean "process it into a single JPEG" in your first paragraph?

    This is a very useful technique. Used in atrophotraphy to produce clean detailed images that are otherwise...

    @EcoR1

    Same amount of light, but the bigger sensor probably generates less noise. So you could use a higher ISO if needed.

    LOL. Can't *any* manufacturer create a lens of any level of quality? Just a matter of throwing talented engineers at it, and giving them the right materials to work with. Actually I don't even know...

    For a smaller size?

    Here's an example. Extremely impressive, and to think this was done by some student...imagine what a large company with a R/D team could do!

    @rapick

    Every other camera can create a HDR *JPEG* (which isn't true HDR because it's 8 bit.....) but how many do this for RAW?

    With the high readout speed of the RX10 IV sensor, maybe this...

    Very interesting idea...this could be a major step in undoing the dominance of larger sensors. With lots of manual processing, one can obtain higher IQ from these small sensors in terms of dynamic...

    How about micro 4/3? Is a single lens available with similar sharpness across the entire focal length range? I guess the aperture could be less because the larger m43 sensor would make up the...

    How much would the lens itself cost, if sold separately? Keeping in mind that it's regarded as being quite sharp (it's not a pro lens...but still very good).

    "Shooting action with a D3300 + 70-300 AF-P VR would give you better image quality."

    It's an all in one camera....it needs a wide end!

    How much does it matter?

  • Those trees are so far away you'd need a windstorm to make them sway by a full pixel!

  • Thank you all for responding! (I have trouble with the threaded-view so I'm not replying individually...) It seems like there's no best answer here. And that makes sense, because the intention of a ...
  • That's exactly what I do. The issue is getting the RAW to look like the JPEG in the first place, which is a good starting point for further editing. For instance if the JPEG is just a touch too ...
  • Near Fact: the DPR AF benchmark is not being consistently performed for different cameras. I pointed out several variations. I suppose I have not proven that these variations impact the test...

  • @osv

    Where did I make any claims?

  • Someone who's put some serious thought into how to test moving-target AF performance:

  • Maybe a standard AF test is being developed?

  • What I wish is that the camera could save 16 bit TIFF instead of the JPEG! Combine the camera's "looks good by default" results with the ability to post process.
  • Well let me put it this way, I trust the same reviewer to compare two cameras side by side within a short enough timespan. If that person is familiar with both cameras and has used them in the same...
