  • Indeed it looks like poor packing was the main problem in this case. Since my €800 camera was stolen from my checked bags by baggage handlers at Brussels Airport a few years ago I worry about theft...

  • Richard Butler I can only assume that Phil was short of files to use in the review!
    Thanks for the interesting article.

  • Yuk! What's with Adobe using Phillip Scofield in the product shots for version 1.0? Ruins what might have otherwise been an excellent product. (Brits will know what I'm talking about.)

  • Maybe Sony will consider ditching the low pass filter this time around?
  • (((Pedantic hat on))) - Nokia isn't Scandinavian...

  • No, larger hands can also use a Sony Alpha in my opinion. What has let the cameras down in the past is the placement/design of the controls rather than the size of the body.

  • Replied in Lol ...
I have some sympathy with the OP. Sony clearly expects some E-mount APS-C users to spend out, for example the A6500. It also continues to offer cheaper APS-C e-mount bodies such as the 5xxx ...
  • Thanks @Ebrahim Saadawi and @Revenant that's what I took it to mean. I just wanted to give Barney some (polite) feedback on the writing, that's all.

  • Thanks for article Barney, but me no understand this sentence: "The Canon EOS Rebel T7i replaces the T6i (which will continue to exist), making it the top model in the compact Rebel lineup." I...

  • LAE3 really is painfully slow focussing with SAM lenses. At least that is my experience with the A7 and SAM 85 2.8. Not sure if the Sony 28-75 would be any better.
  • Commented on article Sony SLT a99 II Review

The only advantage of the side-hinge I can think of is for the situation where you might want the screen facing forward (selfie or vlogging mode) with the built-in flash popped up or a...

  • Commented on article Sony SLT a99 II Review

I use the A77II which has broadly the same screen implementation as the A99II and I've never had a problem using the flip-out screen with a tripod. In fact because you can lift it up over the EVF...

  • Commented on article Sony SLT a99 II Review

I've used the A77, A77II and A37 and I've never seen ghosting linked to the SLT mirror.

  • Commented on article Sony SLT a99 II Review

As a user of both, I have to say that these A-mount bodies just handle so much nicer than the E-mount bodies such as the A7 and for that reason alone I'm happy that Sony is continuing with the line.

  • Thanks for the advice - I will have to see what transfer speeds I am getting - my cards are pretty fast. Generally I am copying from the card reader directly via the PC to the external drive ...
  • Quick question, my Dell PC has USB 3 ports but also a SD card reader. I have always used the PC's integrated card reader to transfer photos from my camera to the PC. Am I right to assume that this ...
  • It's not a camera for me, I won't be buying. I'm not knocking the IBIS or the AF system, but quite frankly, for $1400 (even more here in Europe) I think buyers can indeed expect better...

  • You can't add 5-axis IBIS or a new processing chip via a firmware update.

But seriously it seems like Sony missed a chance to introduce a more meaningful upgrade to the A6300, including ergonomic...

  • ekaton it's not the same thing. I have the first gen RX100 and I can just put it in my jeans pocket when I go to a rock concert and take acceptable pictures, if I'm close to the front of the crowd....

  • Sam Santana why is it relevant whether a sports photographer would shoot raw or jpg? For most of us amateurs/enthusiasts using this site, it's of no relevance. I don't get this obsession some have...
