@Edward King
You mean the fact of yours, but reality is the opposite.
If you can't recognize the color shift, detail loss and awful posterization because of noise reduction, and this looking better for you, than you have a long way to learn ahead, in photography, sorry

Edward King: The R3 and these cameras all look pretty good. With the Internet and social media, these days photographers have instant deadlines these days, and don't have time to waste editing photos. High MP doesn't matter for media(even 24MP heavily cropped is enough), but low noise does.
The low amount of noise should mean quicker turnaround.

Baked in RAW noise reduction doesn't mean low noise levels, just sayin... :)

@Edward King
You misunderstood, baked in RAW noise reduction doesn't a positive thing, it looks much worse, not better, Details are gone, and heavy posterization kicks in, and you can't do anything to avoid that. In JPG noise reduction is ok if you can set the value of the NR, but in RAW it's totally unacceptable. I hope now you understand it :) And you can clearly see DR is also far behind Sony

@aftab
Yeah Canon is very aggressive baked in noise reduction indeed, even with mecha shutter, thanks for sharing

Anulu: For those who don't understand why A1 beating Z9 in High-End Camera category:
A1 beating Z9 in many ways: Image Resolution, EVF Resolution (9,44M vs 3,69M), EVF Refresh rate (240Hz vs 60Hz), Image Buffer (155 vs 40), Max fps (30 vs 20), Max flash Sync (1/400 vs 1/200) with a half the weight, better AF, with an M.shutter for tricky sutations, and Z9 have only a tiny fraction of lens selection what Sony offer. So Z9 just lagging behind A1, but it's well priced, that must be admit, i bet that value brings the win for the Z9 in Product of the year category.

@Edward King
The A1 EVF doesn't drop to the Z9 resolution in ANY mode. It's lowest resolution is 5.67M dot which you can run at 120fps and 9x magnification.
The Z9 EVF is fixed at 3.69M dot at 60fps and 8x magnification.

Matt_007: Incredible that the Nikon Z9 EVF didn't get even a nomination for the innovation award. That system is the first true real-time / zero lag viewfinder and essentially the key goal of the whole mirrorless concept. I'm sure all future EVFs will copy the Z9 approach.

Also, how did the Z9 not win the best stills/video camera award? Its literally the best stills and video camera you can get - even if they were separate awards.

Z9 EVF has zero innovation, moreover it's lagging behind competition

FlyinDoc: Without any fanboyism, I just don't understand how the A1 is the best High-end Camera, beating the Z9, yet Z9 is the "Product of the Year". Looks to me like one of those Awards where everyone gets a Prize. Please explain. Thanks DPReview.

TomCodyPleasedToMeetYa: No doubt YouTube influencers will be saying that EVF MPs and refresh is THE most important thing ever in cameras and the Nikon is a huge FAIL and Nikon will be out of business in a month.

@Foskito
Actually Sony has 9.44M Evf with 240Hz, not 3,6M with 60Hz....

a1 is much smaller and has better specifications

King in price, at max

Those who say RIP a1, are just ridiculous... sorry.
Looking just for photography:
3,6M 0.80x with 60fps Refresh rate VS 9,44M 0.90x with 240fps refresh rate
20fps Raw with 40-70images Buffer size VS 30fps Raw with 155 images buffer size
1,34Kg vs 0,73Kg
45Mpx Vs 50Mpx
1/200 max flas sync/No M.shutter vs 1/400 max flash sync with M.Shutter
And finally just look for the lens selection wath Nikon and what Sony offers...

That tilting screen is the best solution for photography, but 3.69M 0.8x EVF with only 60fps refresh rate, 20fps Raw with a 40-70 images of buffer, no mechanical shutter for tricky situatuions. Not impressed. At least they priced well, $1000 below a1 looks fair for it's capabilitys, nice upgrade for Nikon shooters for sure.

"resulting in a flash sync of 1/200 sec"
It doesn't have a mechanical shutter, so you can't use HSS flash with the z9?

Well done Nikon

"A1 is still 10fps RAW faster with higher MP, has 1/400 and mechanical shutter, offers hybrid SD/CF slots and a compact form-factor."
And 9+M viewfinder instead of 3+M

Anyway, cudos for Nikon to the three axis tilt screen, the best solution for photography and Sony should copy that.

@forest dream
Yes i know, Fuji use this for a while, but as far as i know, no FF camera used this solution until now

For photography this 3 axis tilt screen is the best solution. I hope one day Sony switch to this, from the two axis tilt screen
