The combination of a reboot and upgrading to EOS Utility 3 worked :-) Thank you all for your help.

Thank you for your idea. I just upgraded to the latest EOS Utility 3. It still doesn't work.  The PC still thinks there is no camera connected to it.

Thank you for pointing that out. I thought about that myself.  I used the wifi a month ago.  But the camera's wifi is already set to "disable".

No I cannot.  It seems like the PC cannot see my camera, even though I hear the chime from the computer when I switch the camera on.
