Technpix: This looks exactly like the snoppa atom stabilizer that came out about 6 months ago (i got one from backing them) but the snoppa has wireless charging and last 24 hours (compared to this 13 hours.)

ATOM size: Unfolded: 123*73*297cm Folded: 50*106*178mm, i think the size different is not much, i would not upgrade, even DJI may have better AI and app.
After using ATOM for few months, i found folding is a bit annoying. and the gimbal is still big. Something like that Snoppa M1 is much better, perhaps should wait for Smooth Q2 or Zhiyun Crane M2 instead.

wakaba: Most components are Samsung. Quoting partspricing for external oem is wrong. Real cost is probably 20--70 percent lower. Samsung is gouging it's customer massively. Ridiculous. No buy.

company has to make money from some where, other brands may not make their own parts, like iPhone actually use Samsung parts.
OnePlus has the best "value" Android phones, I don't think OnePlus make their own parts too.. And Most OnePlus user don't get OnePlus any more, because their support and inconsistent quality. They saved money on marketing, support, etc.
Unless you buy non-profit product like "One Laptop Per Child", otherwise there is margin, of course.

MnTony: Charge them, wait 30 days, then test. Charge them, wait 60 days, then test. There are plenty of NiMH batteries cheaper than Eneloops, but we pay for their slow self-discharge capability.

i have around 30 eneloop white batteries, i bought them at 2014 and 2015. I don't use much. I may use less than 5 cycles every year for each set. I recently found that the battery seems to have much lower performance during 2017 weddings. I also found that even if they are capable to store 80% after a year, i still charge them before job regardless. There were once I had last min event and didn't charge turns out not enough battery. I may have to buy a tool to measure if some of them are already half dead.

So my take is, it doesn't matter to much if I have eneloop. I rather get these Ikea batteries and a charger. But i upgraded to Godox with rechargeable battery. so no more AA ;)

Greenalux: $2,500 for a super compressed video. Quality looks pretty rough even at 1440p.

yeah, i found some footage, its possibly worse than Spark boost to 4k. Would be nice if we can spend $100 more for a much better camera. And i'm not sure if that gimbal works as well as other drones too.

Thomas Kachadurian: mac for twenty years. just bought an asus over a mac book pro. better hardware, more ram, bigger ssd. same processor. saved $1200. turns out, windows 10 isn't as dumbed down as the mac OS, and I like it better. the macbook is prettier.

@spectro, yeah, i did try download different software and codes, didn't work. Anyway, again, why should I waste my precious hours spend on getting a computer work for me, instead I spend extra $200 more to get a Mac with same spec, i can get that $200, 300 back easily with a small 3 hours weddings ;-)

Here is UX303LN spec and review, please note that mine is touch screen, i7 with dedicated graphical card and 2Gb video ram.

@Spectro, its GeForce 840M, I suspect its driver problem with Win10. Because before I sell, i restored it to Win8, it seems faster. There are minor things I didn't like: it states "ultrabook", but i think its just as thin as Macbook Pro 13 2014. The casing is not as solid as MBP13. It hot even more than Mac laptops

The only thing I like is I can upgrade SSD. But 256Gb was enough, as I always use external storage

And i wasted days on fine tuning, testing, hoping I can find a software to play 4k video. If we charge client $100+ per hour, thats thousands of dollar I spent for something I don't have to. Why not "waste" money on something I'm sure it works even seems "over price"? Kia or "over priced" Lexus, you pick!

Very embarrassingly, years ago I never like Apple, why $3000 for a 15" laptop, when I can get one for $500? but I had to try it before I hate it, then I more I use, more I found they are valuable, especially refurbished

dash2k8: Is it me, or is this comment section looking really like a "Canon vs. Sony" or "Canon vs. Nikon" or "your brand vs. mine" sort of thing? This article is filed under "OPINION" for crying out loud, it's one man's preference. The article is not trying to persuade anyone to jump ship, so it's puzzling why people are all up in arms about this. Relax, have a cup of coffee, and go back to your OS and hardware of choice.

Oh wait, did I just start a war between coffee and tea drinkers? ;)

because this is the best topic to get viewing and comments :-p

interesting.. I was in simular situations, I wish i had same conclusion as you. I got a 4k camera 2 years ago. I didn't want to pay more than 2k for a 4k laptop, and Mac don't even have 4k screen yet. i also bought an Asus Ultrabook UX303LN, i7, beautiful design, 4k touch screen, dedicated graphical card. Only problem is, it can't play 4k videos, casing is not as solid as Macs, not even comparing to cheap MBA...

bottom line, a 4k laptop can't play 4k video..? em... sold ASAP... :-(

IdM photography: The "semi pro" categorization is somewhat awkward. If a professional shoots fashion in studio, he won't choose a the Nikon D5 over the D810. Categories should be defined respect to the PURPOSE...

i also don't think d8xx/5D series should consider "semi-pro", in DP logic, only med format are pro for studios. Its quite sad for a media to spread idea like this. Perhaps its because they want to push people buy more expensive gears.
After all, choosing appropriate gear is one of the most important part on photography, sometime you have to go small instead.

Glen Barrington: I want a camera that straps to my head and all I have to do to take a picture is look at it, and yell "SHOOT! SHOOT!" at the top of my lungs. Think of the great street photos we could get! Everything else should be taken care of.

Yelling may not be a good idea if you want candid. In fact, you can achieve what you want with a sound detective or voice recognition system, maybe with Raspberry Pi.
A more practical approach would be video recording all time like the Google Glasses, and at least 15 hours of battery.

Just let it die peacefully, so we can all forget Nikon had a garbage system.

But it seems you are not the only one has this strange problem, honestly, i can't believe it, but people describe in detail, i guess I am sorry to doubt you and I have to believe this happens, but it doesn't sound logical, it must have a reason. I doubt its because the aluminum bend easily between hot and cold temperature, and super thin casing make it much easier to be bent....? I dunno. ;-)

i own iPad mini and 2 iPad (not the air), i never had any problem. The only explanation would be you have an ipad with bad battery, so it expanded but it shouldn't be "bent", and Apple would usually give you a new/refurb right the way in that case.

since its already bent, have you tried to bent it back and see how much strength you need to reverse back?

wabre: why does anyone just assume this is not necessary? If Vertu exists, it means there's a market for this type of product. And while i was in Russia, i have seen people showing off these phones. So while people show off their iphones or samsungs, Vertu is the same, just on a higher price tag level. Nothing wrong with it.

@leonche64, actually this was a site for photography, not "tech".
