I will never sell my 85mm 1.2 DS. That said if it was the non DS I would sell for the DS :D If they put out a 50mm DS I'm selling and upgrading.

I don't use face detect at all for soccer, just a medium sized square. Other than that I use minimum 1/1000 shutter (during day though it is usually 1250 to 1600 usually) and wide open shooting ...

"Motion blur is something that would be helpful." Sharpen AI has it and it works great. They have a free trial.

When I test both products last year I liked the results much more with Denoise AI and Sharpen Ai over DXO (killed too much detail) for my Canon R5. That said letting the program auto choose ...

oops didn't mean 1.7 hah that is a random aperture that is not even an option.

Sounds like basically 1/1000 or higher mechanical is needed though for best IQ and to avoid first curtain.
-
Oh I see that is very helpful. Thank you!
-
What is the advantage of mechanical over 1st curtain? Does it impact anything with a prime like the 85mm 1.2 DS and 50mm? Am I losing something doing 1st curtain? When need zero shock I do full ...

Thank you. Definitely a bit of spray and pray, a few managed to be decent frames. Pretty impressed with how f/1.2 turned out.

I took this while driving over the Bay Bridge into San Francisco. This was blind firing and praying for a shot to not be obstructed by the bridge beams. Cleaned up some with Topaz Denoise AI. R5 ...

Kokopelli_Rocks , same suggestion. You exif shows 1/8000 shutter ISO6400. you can slow your shutter a ton and have way less noise and still be just as sharp. Just my two cents..
-
You exif shows you shot at 1/2500, is that accurate? 1/2500 not necessary to keep a sharp image. You could shoot at a quite slower shutter speed for lower ISO lower noise. For example the image I ...

I am curious about the 800mm f11 as well. I've shot it a few times with the RF100-500mm some with 1.4 and some 2.0. As another mentioned the atmosphere is what impacts it a lot. These are hand held ...

RF 85mm f2 is $299 at Canon refurb store.

I am curious what people are doing to make time lapse videos? What in camera method and if there is any additional hardware that would make them better? These were all relatively simple in just ...

Practicing shooting at 85mm and 135mm only with the 70-200mm to see what you generally like more (the background rendering is no match for the primes of course). I love my 85mm 1.2 DS but have ...

For portrait work that isn't in a studio, hands down get a prime. I bought a RF70-200mm 2.8 first then later a 85mm 1.2 DS. The background rendering difference is substantially better on the ...
