  • You're a funny guy rrccad
  • Sorry dude, not true. It was never confirmed at the Canon Expo 2015 that the sensor was a Bayer, and reports since have indicated a stacked RGB. But let's just say for the sake of argument that it ...
  • IBIS is probably too far fetched for Canon - they do after all have excellent ILIS as it is. Funny thing about the 120MP sensor though, it appears to mimic Sigma's Foveon. Canon's patent points to ...
  • If you're exclusively using a wide angle for day light landscapes, then you're choice of the Nikkor 18-35mm F3.5-4.5 sounds like the way to go.

I could see a sharp 28mm F1.4 being very useful if...

  • It would likely be greater than, or equal to the current dynamic range of the 5DS R due to unfiltered pixels being capable of absorbing 2 and half stops of additional light than standard RGB ...
  • Created discussion thread 5DS R II wish list
The high-resolution full frame market is ruthless and unforgiving, so I’m hoping Canon gives the 5DS R a massive overhaul in the mark II version for a 2018 release. I mention 5DS R only because ...
  • Capture One certainly has more flexibility for curves adjustment, and it's RAW color rendering tends to be slightly warmer than LR, so a lot of portrait photographers prefer it. But I'd recommend ...
  • Commented on article Sigma SD Quattro H Review

I really wish Sigma would have gone the extra mile and made this a full-frame sensor. The extra resolution from the larger sensor might have turned a few more heads when combined with the Foveon...

  • Never had a client ask me: This photograph was shot with the $11k Noctilux, right? So I keep using my $750 Mitakon Zhongyi 50mm f0.95; fools them every time :)

  • @Joel
I imagine Sony would have some trepidation in combining the 1" sensor and 14-42mm pancake lens in an Xperia smartphone. It would effectively invalidate the RX100 compact models, and I think...

  • Kodak should have emulated Panny by going for a 1" sensor like they did for the CM1. Photo enthusiasts will happily accept a phone with extra girth to accommodate a much more sophisticated imaging...

  • I wish DW Photo the best - more competition is always better for the industry. But it's not just Hasselblad's H system, or Phase One's IQ and XF systems that they're up against. Now they have to...

  • Exactly. Sigma demonstrated an effective use of the flange distance with their SD Quattro cameras by dropping a removable IR filter in the space. No reason to believe Canon couldn't do the same.

  • If you're just getting into film MF, then I'd recommend an older Pentax 645. They can be scooped up on Ebay for $150 in good condition, and the film backs are inexpensive and readily available. ...
  • Replied in D810 or wait?
You might consider buying a used D800 rather than the D810. You'll save quite a bit of cash since used D800's on ebay with 30k-50k shutter actuations routinely go for about $1100 to $1300. Same ...
  • You could go the poor man's route like I did and buy a Sigma 12-24mm DG EX. I picked up a 1st-gen model of that lens off of ebay for $300. Not nearly as sharp as the Canon, or the newer Sigma...

  • I find the x1.3 crop on the SDQ-H a little frustrating because the DG lenses are designed for full frame sensors; so to me it seems like the DG ART lenses are partially wasted on the SA mount ...
  • Thanks. I think I'm leaning toward the DP3 Q. It's less expensive in terms of buy in, and you make a good point about working with the files. Sigma's Foveon workflow with SPP is fairly unique (to ...
  • Thanks for the recommendation. I figured the DP3 Q was the way to go initially, but I wanted to see if anyone else had experience using it. It seems like a lot of value in a small package. Josh
  • Yeah... The DP3 Q is looking really tempting. Considering I can also get the lens extender as an accessory to bring it to 90mm without sacrificing IQ really makes it a compelling choice too.
