I have an OM-1. Was hoping to get the OM-5 as a backup/travel camera. It turned out uninspiring for the reasons you mentioned, so I gave it a miss. I'm hoping for an OM PEN. So, I would get the OM-1.

I haven't had much joy with MF either. However, C-AF with face/eye detect is really sharp. I think low light faces is its forte. Soft edges are almost a bonus.
-
Is said "in addition" since if I hadn't, someone would surely jump in and correctly point out that all lenses have some field curvature.
-
Not sure, but if it is field curvature, one would expect that using an edge AF point to focus, the edges should be reasonably sharp. I tried it and the edges were still soft. That would imply ...

Agreed! If weather sealing is a must have, then the 12-40 f2.8 is pretty well it, at that focal range. I prefer weather sealed gear more from the point of view of reliability, but I used the ...

I don't look through the EVF at all. I follow the bird with the red cross hairs and thumb on BBF with C-AF on. As soon as I hear the AF lock confirmation beep, I fire off a burst and hope for ...
-
I do exactly the same. However, I don't have a parallax issue because getting birds so close that parallax becomes an issue, just never happens to me :)
-
I tried that but using the dot sight only hoping bird detect will do it's job. Had mixed results. I still fool around with it if the dot sight is on anyway for BIF.
-
Hot shoes never needed to be super accurate. Flashes cast a wide beam. On the OM-1 with the locking screw loose, the front of the dot sight can move 1-2mm. It's just a plastic foot in metal. ...
-
I agree. I couldn't do BIF without it. However, it has to be calibrated each time it's fitted to the camera. There is just too much play in the hot-shoe. I find it frustrating that the sideways ...

@RSTP14 Sadly, a so called 80MP OMS sensor shift image is a far cry from an 80MP FF image. Try it!
-
It looks like it's a dud lens. It may be an internal alignment problem. A competent repairer may be able to turn it into gem but is it worth it.
-
OMG, yes. I walked into a camera store for the first time in years. I was blown away by the size of the FF offerings. I'd forgotten how big they are. The Nikon Z fc looks quite manageable but it's ...
-
I used to have that on an older camera. Realigning the viewfinder to an ocean horizon helped a bit but mostly it was poor shutter pressing technique. So glad I have a level indicator in the ...

That's good and bad. Good because my lens isn't faulty. Bad because OMDS are being such dicks. It's such a shame, hackers are more intent on scamming little old ladies than building hacks for ...

A glitch in the rediscovery :) If I set MF on the super control panel, I get focus peaking. However, if I set MF using the focus clutch, I can manually focus but there is no focus peaking. Is ...

You are right, the DOF seems only about a tenth of what it should be. I wonder if it's something to do with being at the end of travel. Try backing it off 1/3 of a stop. Or to put it another way, ...

A good idea to handle it first. However, if your intension is to compare it to a Z50, you'll be disappointed. It's a completely different system to the one you are used to. What you need to look ...

I too have the 60mm. I'm sure the 90mm will be a great lens but I'm not a professional so I don't know how I could possibly justify replacing it with the 90mm. It would be just GAS. Although, if...

I had an Oly E-3. It was a 4/3 camera. They were the forerunner of m4/3 and larger too. It had an LCD display on the top. Yes, it was useful. They dropped the LCD display on the m4/3 range ...
