  • Whereas I think you are trying to impose your preference and are exasperated that he doesn't appear to be onboard. You want a discussion as to why your solution is correct. He never asked for that. ...
  • The differences between JPEG and RAW are well-documented and easy to understand. If RAW is what you need, then wonderful, you have that option. Seems to me though that some folks just cannot get ...
  • I shoot in both and store the RAW files, unedited. I use the JPEG's because the only real post that I do is cropping - I'm just not interested in editing really. I've done this since 2004 so ...
  • I don't think so, no for version II. Version I of the EF lens, then yes. I bought my R5 with the RF 24-105 L as a kit so sold my EF 24-105 L II version. IQ are comparable in my experience. I gained ...

  • People who have never experienced being close to animals in their true natural habitat may be forgiven for assuming a zoo experience is similar but they would be very wrong. I’ve been in a tent in ...
  • Naturally building to a reduced budget means trade-offs vs more expensive gear. I had a very sharp Canon EF 70-300 years ago but generally, cheaper EF lenses were a trade-off in all respects in my ...

  • I grew up in South Africa and started photography there - wildlife on safari was my favourite subject and still is. When I moved to the UK in my 30's, I did a bit of urban photography around London ...

This almost describes me! I can use full manual  - did a Photography Course many years ago - but I get zero joy out of doing so - I enjoy composition and want the camera to do most of the work. To ...
  • They are different lines, yes. The DSLR line is obsolete in terms of R&D for the bodies and lenses being discussed. The R line brings with it more advanced tech that has not made it into the old ...
  • A lot of people like a 50mm, a lot don’t. I had one for awhile but never used it, I prefer 35mm. Are you upset that bloggers, vloggers and reviewers are harping on about it as a ‘must-have’? They ...
  • I had the EF 100-400, then EF 100-400 II and now RF 100-500. It isn’t far superior, no. Is it a nicer lens? In my opinion, yes. I prefer the additional reach and more compact size and weight. IQ is ...
  • Replied in Wow, wonderful
I agree with you - I would actually prefer a dial over the LCD on my R5. It is quicker to use and no worries about scratching it.
