I agree with Ken Rockwell that 'the best camera is the one you have with you'. Since I live in the red rock country of Sedona, Arizona, and ride my mountain bike nearly every day, I've invested in the Nikon CoolPix 5100 even though not as highly rated as the Canon G9, it is less expensive so at least I will have it with me on my mountain bike rides. Also the Nikon SB-400 is small and has bounce capabilities, so I'll have that, too -- for less than the cost of the G9. No use taking the choice too seriously, as many new options will continue to become available in the near future. These days, we can be assurred that something smaller but more beautiful will soon allure us!
