  • Interesting. But I also guess that ultimately this is an unfortunate accident :-/ Assuming that lens hit a hard surface with an energy at least 500g J, if it were metal it might have dinged as well ...
  • That makes sense if one needs the 20mm focal length. However, the OP specifically said "I am looking for a ultra wide lens for landscape photography. I am most interested in the wide part." I ...
  • That is the RF 16mm. As with the excellent test results produced by @Sittatunga above, DxO PL4 is able to extract and correct the RF 16 lens to near 14mm ! If you don't need the (practically ...
  • Can't argue with that. I am lazy so I shoot JPEG + RAW. If JPEG is "good enough" then I don't bother with trying to work on the RAW. (If photography was my career/profession then likely I may have ...
  • Good question. Tried just now. Passing the CR3 file directly into Topaz is indeed producing a darker image !
  • One question though, can the clipping really be saved ? (and another question, should it be saved :) )
  • Thanks Phil. That matches my experience using DxO PL4 as well. I was guessing @ProDude may have found a way to apply DeepPrime after Topaz.

It does literally takes non-zero amount of time. Which maybe productive in some cases. However likely not needed at all in majority of the cases. To match the output like-for-like one would have to ...
  • Topaz actually does a better job. Topaz is not a RAW processor however. That’s why that image from Topaz appears “flat”. For me, what works is a combination of both. Process the RAW with DxO PL4 ...
  • Of course I have been blown away using Topaz Denoise -> Topaz Sharpen. However the question was for the part in bold. Using DeepPrime after Topaz Denoise. —C
  • Got to try this. What are the steps here ? (1) Process RAW through Topaz Denoise and produce a DNG (2) Use the DNG from 1 above and then DeepPrime it ?

Well... https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/65827458. I am not refusing to use RAW. Not sure what it told you about me but I for sure know that you are arguing for the sake of arguing. OK, please ...

Please don't leave us imagining :) Can you provide and example where the SOOC JPEG came out looking really pleasing and beautiful due to the photographic abilities of the photographer, technology ...

OK. I have some spare time... so let's play. First, get your knowledge to the point. Cameras do not process JPGs. Cameras process RAW and bake a JPEG file. What do you mean by "does not necessarily ...

Hubris ! Is it unreasonable expectation to have from a very expensive camera and lens to produce perfectly pleasing JPEGs ? The kind which really don't need much attention in terms of post-processing ?
  • Keep doing JPEG  + RAW. If you like the JPEG, ditch the RAW. If not then work on the RAW. Storage is cheap. —C
  • Good to know. Haven't really tried astro with R6 so far I don't mind the weight of R6 at all. Just wish it had the additional technical capabilities of the E-M1 Mark 3 as well. In fact that R6 is ...
  • That and the Star AF mode of E-M1 mark 3. Yes indeed. I am basically dreaming of an E-M1 Mark 3 with R6 FF sensor, AF and High ISO capability.
  • If you have the CR3 file, then have you tried converting it in DxO ?
  • For the R6 1) Ability to save settings to card 2) Clipping warnings in stills mode 3) Sensor shift high resolution 4) M43 like Live Time mode 5) Ability to limit number of frames in burst mode 6) ...
