I can only afford 20 year old Leica cameras. If the price was half of this. I can always stick a Red Dot on my RX-1 I suppose.
This is the only digital Leica I have seen I have been interested in owning.

Many years ago Leica was the leader in technology with the M3. They have been stuck with the design because they want simple and classic and pressure from the faithful users.
I think it's time they started thinking to the future and start leading the way again. Keep the M design for the purist but cameras like this for those like me that like technical advances.
The world didn't stop turning with the invention of auto focus.

I don't know how many has tried the Sony RX1 in B&W mode but it's pretty impressive and much cheaper.

On article Medium well done: Two takes on the Pentax 645Z (249 comments in total)

I have used the Pentax Z and I can tell you it's on par with Nikon on noise issues and dynamic range. The detail in shots are off the map. This camera and a couple of well picked lenses could last one a lifetime without ever wanting more.
I could crop into it forever. The mirror slap is minimal and no worse than any Nikon I have used. Not something for sports or wildlife but as a portrait, landscape camera it is easily the best available, pros rent it for a reason. I disagree with the focus accuracy. I had no issues with missing. I used older 645 lenses so the lenses did hunt in low light some. it has focus peaking in live view which is nice. The screen is the best I have used with options of changing background colors, large easy to read menu fonts even in daylight. Maybe the one used here was a early edition demo.
If I need to go wide I just made a pano. Pentax is so underrated with all of their cameras.

I think the price is a bit high. I have the 15mm Voigtlander and am not overly impressed. I thought high prices in ultra wides included distortion corrections but maybe not. It will be interesting to see. The only downfall is the x2 crop factor. Being a manual lens it would be nice to be able to use it on others mounts but being an ultra wide you will be stuck with a high end lens you can only use on one system.

On article Opinion: The myth of the upgrade path (1603 comments in total)

It seems to me that imprvoement in APS-C and m4/3rd sensors have slowed to a crawl in the last few years. Maybe Nikon has faired a little better. Full frame sensors have really made better gains. Almost to the point ISO means nothing.
Plus the price of full frame has came down so much I don't see the attraction to APS-C.

It might be a good camera for flying on a drone I wonder can it be fired with a remote?

My first drone a Phantom 2 was getting a good 12 minute flight time. My F550 a much bigger bird is getting 8-9. I went into the software and set the low battery return home voltages. They are set a little high from the factory. This adds flight time. Also weather effects times. Cold, heat, humidity and wind effect flight times. Also setting motor gains greatly adds better control.
I suggest much practice time if you get one. Your going to crash some when you first start if you have no RC experience. Find someone who has some seat time and learn from them. The ones that scar me are the ones that throw them together and fly them over crowds with little experience.

I have been shooting with the 645z and all I can say is WOW. The images look almost 3d and the detail is amazing. It blows my a7R out of the water.
One thing about it I could live with the 645z for the rest of my life and never want for another camera.

Being a former Olympus faithful I believe Olympus makes some steller lenses for the price. My old 12-60mm had Zeiss quality for a fraction of the cost. My only complaint with Olympus was their dismal sensor improvements over the years and their abandonment of the E mount.

It might be a better quality camera for my drone than the GoPro.

Also the Lipo batteries that power them can be a fire hazard. I have a DJI I use but I also understand the parks stance.

As beautiful as this is I can only afford ten year old Leicas. Even if I could if the performance didn't match the price I just couldn't. i guess I will hang with Sony.

I just bought a Samsung Note 2 and my son inherited my S3. The Note doesn't seem so huge after a few days use. I really like more real estate on the screen. I am sure the S4 will be an awesome addition to the lineup.
