zodiacfml: I'm not an expert on Pentax DSLRs but I still recall previously that their RAW files immediately include noise reduction and praising the K-30 with good noise performance would mislead some people.

If you're no expert wouldn't you be glad the noise reduction is so good it can trump all the competing cameras while delivering equal details?

Really looks good. Think it slightly edges most cams in hi-iso shadow noise area like in the conclusion. The old hi-iso king canon seems to be doing the worst even compared to the E-M5. In the imaging department, K30 has a lot going but take it as a system (flash, specialty lenses, etc) i think it still has a bit of room to expand more.

The design reminds me of Gundam somehow.

thx1138: The ISO 6400 is really mushy at least as a jpg. I would hope the RAW are vastly better.

I think it's more important to have detailed, sharp, good colour depth photos in lower iso up to 800 than to have mushy looking hi-iso 'performance' with little noise.

I think it's the reverse, its the whole purpose of 16MP. Say if you normally print 4R or 5R sizes would you prefer a 5MP image with noise or 16MP with same noise?

Trollshavethebestcandy: A painting's art is not in how fine the brush strokes are.
I get that the realism of a picture can invoke greater emotional response but in the end the image is more than pixels. It's a great time in the camera world where we $&@% and moan over the last 5% of image quality and spend thousands to get there. Spend away! Buy cheaper cameras too but please take good pics and share them. I wish you all great luck with the sport of moment and image capture. Admit it. We are all just gear geeks looking for the next toy. I think I will read a book to help me take better pics than spend a few thousand on something that won't.

Like some say, it's not the depth of field that matters, it's the depth of feelings in a picture that matters

sadwitch: To me, images from the DP2merrill were more stunning. With the partnership in effect, think Sony should quickly harness Olympus JPEG engine and apply it to their cameras.

I'm not familiar with x-pro 1 jpegs but the older fuji's jpegs especially those with super CCD tend to have some weird patterns in out of focus or dark areas which i didn't really like. But when it comes to colours, i must say Fuji pretty much rules. Of course all these are personal preferences like there'll be people who'll hate how sharp the DP2 merrill looks.

mmcfine: Honestly, I find most cameras this days produce more or less the same image quality. The glass makes the art not the chip or sensor.
It's amazing how much money and time we spend on comparing nonsense.

Maybe the Medium format or large format users will think FF users are just playing with toys.

babamaru: Whats the point of having a small m43 camera if you are going to stick something like this to it?

You will never understand until you try one out physically

whiteheat: It would be really great if Pentax and Olympus both produced a nice Full Frame camera as an alternative to the standard Canikon fare. A little competition would be good for the consumer, giving more choice and balancing price levels out much more equitably. Come on Pentax, come on Olympus - you can do, you both have the smarts and pedigree to do it, so do it!

No please don't
