About me:

Totally changing direction of my photography. Used to shoot a lot of sports with some weddings and portraits. Got rid of my Nikon D800 and D7100 along with Nikon lenses in order to go mirrorless. I want to do more travel photography that can be used for blogging.

  • I saw where Voightlander just came out with a 21mm 3.5 for Sony. I will be curious to read upcoming reviews. Their 15mm lens has been a good performer, a prime I have my eyes on. I really like the ...
  • I think many of us enjoy the convenience of zooms when traveling. I have finally decided on a travel kit of an a7 iii with the 24-105 G lens and an a7r ii with the 16-35 4.0. Actually for the ...
  • I have now read tons of reviews for both lenses and I am going to get the 4.0 version. I am also going to get the FE 35 2.8 prime. I could care so little about the current 1.4 prime lens fad. I am ...
  • I actually did read that review and read it again using your link. He has some great shots so his opinion is very qualified in my view. When I was reading it my thoughts were the 16-35 4.0 would ...
  • A friend of mine who is a photographer said he has heard from a camera rep that the a7r iii is really a tripod camera. I have heard that it is tougher to get hand held sharp files with larger ...
  • Created discussion thread Sony 16-35 2.8 GM or 16-35 4.0?
I am sure I am not the first person debating about which of those two lenses to buy. Most of what I will do will be for my travel website (link below) and I think the 10-18 on the a6500 will do ...
  • I am planning on getting the 24-105. Before I sold my a7r iii I had the Sony 24-105 on my a6300 and a Canon 16-35 4.0 lens with metabones adaptor on the a7r iii. I now have the a6500 as well and a ...
  • Brian, Thanks for the compliment. I need to remove some of my photos as too many similar shots and some are over processed. My website is still a work in progress. I had an a7r iii and sold it. For ...
  • My goal is to be able to occasionally produce a large canvas print up to 60"x40" to display in my home. I have already had a thread asking about being able to print that large with 24 megapixels. ...
  • I need to research the web host limitations. The photos I stressed about were the couple I used as a splash background (I am only using one splash background picture for the photo gallery page, ...
  • Thanks. The photos in the slide show on the home page were not processed with DXO. I will try resizing to something larger, providing there will be no issues with Weebly. I have Capture 11 Pro, ...
  • Created discussion thread Resizing for the web question
I have been using DXO recently and am trying to figure out best way to prepare photos for my website. When processing the photos I use 300 dpi, 1080 max pixel width or length, and bicubic sharper. ...
  • Created discussion thread 12 new lenses from Sony?
Very strange as my yahoo news feed showed an article where Sony has a roadmap for 12 new lenses. I checked DPReview to see if more information and there was none. So I thought I would post the ...
  • What was strange then is the star ratings I used in ACR showed up in the DXO browser and I was able to filter the files based on those ratings. Gary
  • Replied in Preset question
Thanks. I think I will end up buying the program after my trial. A pleasant surprise is when selecting some of my old raw galleries DXO showed the ratings I used with ACR and seemed to retain the ...
  • Replied in DXO questions
Yep, from playing around with some photos I figured out micro contrast worked similar to clarity. Thanks.
  • I can see where Clearview would help on outdoor shots. Playing with my trial version using Clearview seemed to change skin tones a little (I used a shot inside a church of a family baptism) where ...
  • Created discussion thread DXO questions
I know my best bet is to get on their forum but for some reason I am having trouble registering for it. I downloaded the trial version and saw some things I really liked. I was very pleased to see ...
  • Thanks, I will take a look at those programs. A feature Affinity lacks that rules the product out for me is the ability to rate files. I can do this with Elements. Capture Pro will be my workhorse ...
  • I have had very little trouble with Windows 10 on a variety of computers with viruses. Kindle app works great as well. I did order a Surface Pro and now I am debating about selling my HP Spectre. ...
