Argesal: I prefer my 5 year old Canon S95 to my mobile phones, both Apple and Android.
In pocket it occupies less space and the performance is definitely higher.
At a recent party, where all my friends got nasty photos because the cellular flashes are inadequate, I through the SD Card that made wifi the old S95 I transmitted them in real time to my photos.
The sad reflection is that my friends feel fashionable just by shooting ugly photos with their expensive cell phones.

@Michael
I am a technological and curious about innovations. I'm not against the ways and the innovations. I mentioned the Canon S95 because I had that on that occasion. I want to buy a pocket with 1 "sensor.
From my first room, a digital Nikon E950 has changed so much and I currently have a Fuji X system. I have nothing against mobile phones but an old camera fan like me, you can not take the taste of using a camera to shoot photo

In all comments I notes absolute absence of Foveon Sensor.
I have not yet bought a Sigma camera but I will. I do not need high ISO, I do not need high acquisition speed, I do not need a high number of focus points ........
I just want an image quality that does not regret the film.
Why does DPR dedicate very little space to Sigma?
Why is it always about the latest Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fuji camera?

How can you assess an optical instrument using only the photo?
I have the impression that here we exceed in philosophy.

ferfi: I love my M2 with the exceptional viewfinder!
It's the perfect point and shoot for me, because this viewfinder is much bigger than the built in viewfinder of the following models.
It's so important for my way of photography.
The image quality is great and the speed is more than sufficient for my way of conscious photography.
If my M2 gets broken, I would try to get a M2 again!

Hi ferfi
please inform me wich wiewfinder you use? Thanks a lot

TomHudsonVisual: Funny the a6000 didn't make this list. It outperforms most to the cameras here for less money.

Okay, if you have to have 4k video or a camera to take snorkeling, I understand, but some of the options here don't have those functions either.

I think the A6000 with the lens PZ1650 is a real compact with excellent performance. My wife, which is weak as a photographer, takes pictures of excellent quality.....

TSeiler: The best compact camera for travel is located in the Samsung S6

I full agree with you. I got Samsung S6 4 months ago
On many occasions I have used instead of Canon S95 and the Fuji E-1 with excellent results. The secret is to always have it at hand.

My pocket camera for travel is Canon Power Shot S95 plus a foldable shield for Lcd monitor in bright sunshine.
For interior photo, a Fuji X-E1 with a 27/2,8 is OK up to 6.400 ISO.
In my opinion, to explore and use all the features of a camera I need a massive use of it.
So, I decided to give a lifecycle minimum of 3 years before to change a camera.
