Sony E 16-55mm F2.8 G, this lens is superB ,,, a zoom lens filled with primes...all primes in one package.

E16-55 2.8G samples shows an ultimate zoom lens finally. extremely sharp at all FLs, even at the extreme corners. From a lot of samples posted here, this lens gives zeiss batis prime like sharpness across the frame and couldnt see any weak FL so far. What i see is a much better lens than 2470GM 2.8 .

maljo@inreach.com: Same sensor, which is ok because its a good sensor, but seems to give Nikon a bit of breathing room. If this had been a 60 mp sensor...

if you can say '' same sensor'', i highly recommend you to take some reading classes..

wow...sensor hit the 15EV! this is medium format zone...reading of the text alone was greatly satisfying...i cant imagine having one of them..

Landscape comparison shot at F1.4 clearly (yes clearly) shows GM is sharper...sharper up to F4-5.6---at F8.0 i call even...

as a long time GM85 user, i can definitely know it's sharpness at F1.4 and i could never seen similar sharpness on Sigma F1.4 shots available on the net so far. GM85 at F1.4, in terms of sharpness, winner.

for portrait shots, it's always very hard to frame same photo in order to eliminate focus distance caused dof differences, and in these shots, it's also very visible .

Marcelobtp: HDR? No mentions of rec 2020 neither P3.
Really this is an IPS edge lit, low contrast, not colorfull enough not dark enough for true blacks not bright enough, probably has clouding, back light bleeding, inconsistent light distribution on the screen.

is there a monitor with such features you listed?

can you post some %100 photos with eye lashes ...just wanted to see...because sample shots here are very disappointing

i totally understand you but i'm simply spoiled by GM 85's and Zeiss Batis 85's outstanding resolution and addicted to to check all images at %100, splitting hair, eye lashes etc...I know most people wont notice anything at A3 size but for me, resolution is really important...i'm not that into toy-like model looks.

Sabud: Sad with only 49 -77 focus points for his new model. `Old´ Sony A6000 sensor has 179 focus points.

Waiting for the X-E3 with new PRO2 / X-T2 - sensor.

i've many many great photos with old x-a1, and how many focus points it has, i really dont know.

ijustloveshooting: exceptional lens,,,there're many bokeh freaks like me,,,this lens will trigger GAS of many people. i hope it has great sharpness wide open, with very fast AF and buttery bokeh...this lens alone would be reason to buy a nikon FF body.

look at the samples provided, if you dont like them, just dont buy it.

Triplet Perar: 105mm and ... f/1.4? What a waste of glass.
Why not f/2 and make it more bijou and optically superior for digital?
But modern faux-Avedons and pretentious videographers wouldn't know what it means, so give them the f/1.4 because that is all they know.

how do you know that it's not that good for digital? i expect a very sharp lens wide open with terrific bokeh!

instaxmurderer: This is exactly why I moved away from Sony, premium lenses that don't quite justify their prices.

for your opinion.
for my opinion,,
FE55 1.8
FE90 2.8 macro
FE1635
FE70200/4
Batis85
FE35 1.4 (a well centered one)
deserves ever penny i paid!... couldnt be happier with the results reviewed at %100 view (yes, i'm a pixel freak)
From my 1-2hrs of trial, 85GM also deserves what's asked for..(my next purchase for sure)

SimenO1: 1000$ for a full frame nifty fifty 1.8 are a ridiculous price. Also considering its performance. Similar lenses for other systems cost 100-300 $.

It also defeats one of the main points about mirrorless: small size and weight. This is the longest and heavies in its class.

i think you speak about 55 1.8....., i used to think like you untill i bought one...FE55 deserves every penny requested. what a gem.

PanchoVilla: This lens is a joke. Another subpar lens slapping the silly Zeiss badge. If you want to do real photography, Micro Four-Thirds is your best option in mirrorless!

funny that, lensrentals just confirms that this lens has better sharpness in the center than Otus55!!! and similar sharpness on corners, makes this lens best 50mm ever!
