I agree, and have decided that for the similar spec as the a6500, ff is way too heavy for me. So I'm sticking with sony apsc, and think that it will satisfy my needs for the next decade or so.

Thank you. This is exactly along my line of thought. I'm going with: A6500+24mm Looking out for a good deal on 32mm (happy to wait a bit) Probably next year, add 70-350. I still have my samyang ...

Very helpful, thank you. I will.

All very sensible- I'm with you. You have been really helpful with the comparison from a6000, af performance and on the ibis point. Thank you. I've decided to go with the a6500 plus 24mm :)
-
You are totally right, of course. I was finding the decision very challenging, since this time round I understand that I'm investing into a system, rather than just a camera. So I've been in ...

I did like the look of the 16-55 -- I think this could be instead of the primes set up, but the weight is what is holding me back - please see my new weight comparison. I would love to take more ...
-
So, after much deliberation I have decided to go with camera body only plus primes, probably starting with a 35mm FF equivalent and really practise my skills. Having done some maths, I'm really ...

Thank you - I hadn't, and now I've sent it to some thieves. If I were to buy a new 32mm zeiss now - would it come with the firmware update?
-
Except that you lot have now got me thinking about a full frame! If I were to go down the prime route, perhaps I could achieve similar weights with a light ish FF. Off to do some maths!
-
Thanks. I did consider it but discounted the A6600 due to weight and price, and figured that the A6500 is probably quite a step up from A6000 in terms of AF and sensor. But I shall have another look.

Thank you so much guys! Very helpful input and thought provoking. I went into a shop yesterday and held a few things. I tried the A6500+16-55m f/2.8, the A7ii + kit lens, a fuji x-t30 (wildcard), ...

Thank you. I did look at these - the A6600 is probably the one I would pick, due to the IBIS, but the value factor and weight eventually led me to pick A6500.
-
Thank you for the hand-on experience. I'd like more than "fine" (though I was happy with A6000 so probably don't know what amazing looks like!), but don't want to pay over the odds for the A6600, ...

Thank you for the feedback on the 16-70, and good to know that the 32mm is now faster at focusing. The version I had would spent ages hunting, and I did find it noisy, though at the end of the day ...

Thank you very much for your helpful input. Do you find the AF lacking on your A6500? I'm also very interested in how you find the 16-55 f/2.8. I tried it in the shop with the A6500 yesterday, and ...

Hi guys, long time lurker and new user here. Having spent quite a lot of hours going back and forth, I would be very grateful for some insight from you helpful lot! My apologies for the rambling ...
