...as highlighted. It now looks ridiculous with "unknown user", and is in dire need of "closure". atom14.
  • There is a good bit of technical discussion - not that it's particularly bad to have. I'd say there's less fussing than actual disagreement, which often enough de-rails the discussion. People can ...
  • Read here. (Note: I found the spoken version dry :-| ) Anyway, why delete your account? Won't you miss... at :-D m14?

You're right. You'll see the water draining off into the Pacific :-D (Sorry for incorrect geography.) Bit of a tilt to the water, David. (The rest is not too bad, though.) atom14.
  • I'll take your words for it :-| The SD Quattra H it is, then!
  • First, I agree with Holin about checking out the exposure details for THOSE shots. Next, though, is the LIGHT. You need sufficient for the exposure. That's all. But YOU've got to decide how much ...
  • WOW! A severe sentence, indeed! Hire a good silk and lodge an appeal with a supreme court. at :-D m14.
  • Yep. I understand, but SPP is where the critical information recovery takes place. If you go TIFF, then at least you would have to work on a 16-bit file, which would still NOT have the same ...
  • Sambaba. With GIMP you won;t be able to work on the X3F image, only this jpeg. You may well produce some "sky detail" but IMO it will skew the rest of the image somewhat. Best work on the X3F. atom14.
  • Ed. When I find out, you'll be the next to know. :-D
  • ...it's only YOU doing something "wrong" :-D You sound new to Σ and SPP, that's OK. I CANNOT post pictures on DPR but I could show you HEAPS of detailed OVERCAST sky detail. Apologies if someone ...
  • Replied in I have a...
    very handy one labelled "Amber - ALL-IN-ONE Card reader". It is approx 110mm x 11mm x 40mm, with 8 slots. 1 x CF, 2 x micro-SD, 2x SD, 1 x M2, and 1 x ??other type. It certainly works at 480Mbps, ...
  • I cannot recollect ever seeing that reverse-type fitting. I reckon you might have to fashion a block of some material to suit. - Maybe a hard plasticky material or aluminium. atom14.
  • I found both those articles clear and interesting, and gladly, that I was on the same track with my ideas about it... To me it was (approximately) like a fill light (flash on camera, other fills, ...
  • Ah, hence the derivation of "chimp-and-see"! You're a champ, TN, and there's no Args about that. Ho-o-w- wevver!! - What a sad indictment of all those benighted camera manufacturers who built this ...
  • with both Maceo and Paulo, Ed, may I suggest and/or reinforce that you do not dwell on what some have characterised as Σ shortcomings. I think rather that such said deficiencies may apply  more to ...
  • [Absolutely an aside and NOT germane to the discussion of "resolution"] Also NOT aimed at ANYone in particular but just general impressions, however, first... Yes, both of you did say more-or-less ...
  • And No, I wouldn't because SURELY 3/4 of the people on this forum would then go elsewhere. at :-O m14.
  • To Scottelly and FD..., addressing the point made below... That to me describes the case of calling it a "higher resolution" camera when it is taking exactly the same FOV as the SD-Q. If it is just ...
  • If your portraits are indoors, you'll need a pretty large room fr the 85mm lens. It is TOO BIG, IMO, and more suited to head (and maybe shoulder) shots. I guess you'd want something more versatile ...
