Water does not pass the test of being a solid so it is not considered a mineral although ice; which is solid, is classified as a mineral as long as it is naturally occurring. - Ice is a mineral - Mineralogical Society of America

So this entry fits within the rules..

In reply to:

Ed at Ridersite: What does "Macro only" mean? I see a submitted photo shot at 400mm. Is that macro?

Full macro is defined as having a reproduction size on the sensor equivalent to what is being photographed.for example if I were to photograph a bug thats 30mm long, the image from the lens would cover 30mm of my sensor. That is defined as a 1:1 Macro. There are lens configurations that als exceed this and go more towards the micro side (microscopic) and then there are ones that are called macro but are a 1:2 ratio (or half macro)...

PentUp: Sooo... basically now the entire DPR backdrop/background is a Nikon advert... influencing, much?

It is a commercial world. Space is for sale. If you have an issue with it then you should move along...

I am absolutely amazed by the sky traffic seen in those videos. It seems wherever you are in Continental USA there are planes overhead.
I am extremely lucky in the fact that I live only 4 hours away from an International Dark Sky Reserve (Tekapo, New Zealand). I grew up gazing at the stars in areas with minimal light pollution and would hate to live where you cannot see them at all!

the best camera does not make the photographer. What makes a photographer is 6 inches behind the camera.
But the best tools for the job certainly help.
