Today's smartphones are able to continually monitor their surroundings. They are listening and watching everything around them. People supply them with their biometrics by using wearables. They track your whereabouts They know more about you than you do yet nobody cares whether they are sending al this information to some foreign government as long as they have their gadget. Of course China won't gather all data. It's too much, but they know how to find you when you are of interest to them. The Huawei Mate 10 has an AI that can predict your interests and actions. There is just a small step between that and influence what you do, serve you information that the government (or whoever is behind it) wants you to see. But hey it has a Leica in it is great.....

Whoever is going to buy this camera for stills. Totally uninteresting how it performs. It's only feat photography wise is that it needs only half the pixels for the same IQ on high iso shots as the 20mp m43 sensor. So you'll get smaller files.

It should still have a IP 40 rating, even when breathing on it already voids your warranty :p

Ok you can enter your vintage CD-players for the water torture test.

damian5000: China will snatch this up. Wait and see.

The Gopro is already made in China, by Foxconn who have a share in Gopro. Maybe Apple will snatch it up and rename it the Apple iHero.

I am sure someone will snatch it up. But it will most likely not be an American company any more after that.

HRC2016: I disliked the company for calling its product "hero". I guess we have forgotten what heroes really do and the word is meaningless after 9/11.

If the reaction to 9/11 is to develop your own fundamentalism including your holy words than maybe you should ask yourself how much difference there is between you and Osama Bin Laden.

Not just Canon users will buzz, the lens as well. Samyang is still lagging in fast and silent AF.

Because of range. People want more range. The 18-105/4 is too big and heavy to be a kit lens and the 16-70 too expensive.

Dante Birchen: Ugly show hide comments bar also seems to make some comments disappear. Someone was enquiring whether Dpreview had been acquired by Rupert Murdoch.
I don't think so, but I am also getting a bit tired of all these articles about morals and famous people in the media in general. No need for dpreview to get involved in it as well. It is taking away the spotlight from what is truly important just to saturate the internet with gossip.

Well when there is a murder we are not going to doubt it really happened unless there is no body (dead or alive). You seem to live by the adagio guilty until proven innocent. Well just prove you didn't rape anyone. we'll let you out when we're sure.

The lens makes the A7R III look like a toy camera. It really needs a big ass Canon DSLR attached to it.

sbu: Here we go again. Another article about a small sensor camera that will cause unbearable pain among a smallish number of very hurt individuals shooting completely different formats. Let me get my popcorn.

So you are against articles about small sensor cameras because you don't like people pointing out the disadvantages of smallish sensors? I wonder who is hurt the most.
