Thanks

Thank you Alireza S, I will crop out the baby in the nest.

Richard Kwon: Nice flash work! Great shot

Thank you Richard
I don't use a flash, that is in my backyard Hummingbird garden in Queens NY between 3 and 4 pm when the Sun is over my right shoulder.
Thanks again
Frank

WOW!!! The worst interview I have ever attempted to watch. I ordered the RP /24-105 kit yesterday and thought I might learn something from the usually reliable DPreview.

BULB and a shutter release is the best way to shoot fireworks. You hear the POP and open the shutter as the burst begins and and close the shutter as the as the blast wains.

I use the 1DsIII & TS-E24L on a tripod with a shutter release.

Fois Giovanni: 300mm f:20 ??? What lens was used? I'm curious...

Fois,

In 2008 I was shooting the old Canon EF 35-350L and I went to F20 to get some blur in the propellers.

Thanks for looking.

Blucenturion: Great shot! I've been an admirer of BS's since I first saw them in Baja Cal, where they abound. This lens was an excellent choice. (BTW, they hunt well after sunset in near total darkness too)

Thank you Blucenturion, skimming shots have always been a problem because I hate walking on the beach alone in the middle of the night.

In reply to:

jaykumarr: congrats.
But I don't understand what happened. There is a bird with severed head, there is falcon and what else is there? how many birds involved here? Is a falcon attacking another falcon that was eating a bird?

Thank you, the Peregrine killed the juvenile Skimmer on the beach and started to eat when I came on the scene and he decided to fly away with his prey.

cjf2: Great image of a fleeting moment. I was wondering how you managed to be ready to take it, then I saw your occupation! I guess you have a head start on the rest of us.
Congratulations on winning.

Thank you, actually, I must admit to receiving advance information, but I still have to be at the appropriate coordinates.

CHAT with NIKON - The Focus Points are RED

Dukens L.: Hi, my name is Dukens L.
Dukens L.: How can I help you today?
Frank: Does the new D5 have RED focus points like the D4S
Dukens L.: Yes it does.
Frank: They stay RED when looking through the viewfinder and highlight when the shutter is depressed half way?
Dukens L.: You will be able to see the focus point through the viewfinder when the shutter is half pressed.
Frank: And it is RED
Dukens L.: Yes

Again, Thank you.

zacharry, I forgot to mention that the artifacts and/or distractions in the background are actually rolling waves.

I shoot from/in the surf in order to be as low and close as possible.

At 300dpi on my NEC monitor the image is very sharp.

See you in the surf :-)
