When in portrait orientation, both viewfinders are at eye level. Nikon and Canon were late to the mirrorless game. They and Sony too will have to respond to this, or risk falling behind.

Full in camera flash control is only available on the D850 when shooting an SB-5000 or SB-500. When using other speedlights a menu is greyed out. This does not impede function, you just set groups ...

The YONGNUO YN622N II works fine on my D850. The only issue I can find is that the flash value lock will occasionally not stay locked. This does not solve the issue that the D850 works differently ...

The Minolta offers no redundancy in case of EVF failure. Every wedding and event photographer will appreciate this.
-
Z9/A1/R3 all only have but a single EVF. Any modern camera should have at least two, preferably one of them tilt-able. I Imagine how not being hobbled by a single viewfinder will unleash your ...

Can the Raynox be used with a macro lens? It seems to be made to provide close up capabilities for non macro lenses such as a kit zoom. Using it with a lens already at 1:1 magnification could ...

For the price the Nikon is hard to beat. There are wide primes at lower cost. If you are set on a zoom then Venus Optics Laowa makes a 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6. It is about half the price of the Nikon but ...

It sounds as though the USB port on the D850 has broken. Have you tried transferring a file to the computer via USB, or maybe try the web cam function? Preferably with a shorter, known good cable. ...

How much do you need the extra resolution of the Z7, really? If it is a matter of want rather than need, then I would advise picking up a Z6 II, selling the D750 and all the F mount glass and ...

My first “digital” watch. Purchased in Berne in 1967. It’s been through hell but still works. Not that accurate any more, needs a good cleaning. It was quite the novelty back then.

As you focus closer, the lens moves further from the focal plane. This increased distance lowers the amount of light hitting the sensor (inverse square law). Some cameras, like the Nikon, take this ...

Not sure how relevant to your situation this reply will be, but here’s my experience. I have a D7100, a Z6 and a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 with the Sigma console. I spent a bunch of time adjusting the ...

Perfectly normal behaviour for any macro lens at macro focusing distances. Don’t worry about it. It is not an incompatibility.

It’s not just you and it’s not limited to cameras. Mechanical devices made with great precision emit sounds that cannot be faked. Very satisfying. People have been chasing those sounds since ...

Hello Kiat. I am a little confused by your post because I am not sure what you mean by “most Mirrorless/Pocket cameras”. A Nikon Z9, Sony A1 and Canon R3 are all mirrorless. No phone made can even ...

Mark, thank you very much for your input. I agree with virtually all of your points. My reference to 1/160th as the “magic number” alludes more to my skill level than to an optimal setting. I just ...

This lens was not even on my radar when I received my copy as a Christmas gift. Completely unexpected and from a source who has never before presented me with a gift of any sort. Not one to look a ...

Thanks BillyBobSenna. I tried that myself with a little radial blur applied to the wheels in Photoshop. It can be effective, as your example shows. It’s not the point though. The background blur ...

Prescott, Arizona. Endless detail.

Just a quick follow-up to this post after last Sunday’s race. Capturing some motion in the wheels does add to the perception of the photos. The technique is not flattering to the course workers though.
Activity older than 12 months is not displayed.
