Still no flippy screen. I'll stick with the 100.

Wow. Amazing camera. It can see peacock feathers where the others can't! :D

Triplet Perar: Best cameras one can buy right now are those that 3 years ago were $1000, and today cost $300. Keeping yourself 2-3 years behind the curve brings tremendous value, at 1/3 of the cost, and, at the most, 1/3 stops of detriment. Totally worth it.

Agreed. Got myself a Sony A6000 with kit lens for £400. Bargain for the quality of images you can get out of it, and more money for good lenses.

TheDigitalCruiser: I've literally written the book on the Stylus 1s (Steve Frankel - "The Compleat Stylus 1s and Stylus 1" - Amazon) and I've taken mine all over the world and it's never disappointed As long as you don't use it it in darkness for very dim available-light, you can get fantastic photos with it, even if you use digital cropping and shoot at 600mm. Just see the color plates that illustrate the book -- you can see them for free using the Preview function on Amazon. A constant 2.8 aperture and the same EVF that is used on the Olympus OM-D M10 are features you don't have any right to expect in a $550 camera!

Not British at all. Just wrong.

Grumpyrocker: I've owned a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100/TZ100 for a few hours and sent it back. It has one of the worst lenses I've ever used. Image quality was absolutely awful.

Great functionality on that camera though. I was so impressed with those elements I bought a GX80.

Given the price of both, it's worth getting the GX80 and kit lens over the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100/TZ100.

Well I've already got an LX100 and there's a ZS/TZ100 on the way to try and I also went and ordered a bloody Sony a5100 last night after stumbling across the impressive-looking specs of an APS-C camera in a tiny body. If none of these impress, it could be the hint to try a GX80/85. My wife would kill me if she knew what I was doing! LOL.

Was wondering about that myself. Just ordered a TZ100 for a good price from ebay and had been looking at the GX80/85 two lens kit. The thing that put me off was having another lens to carry around for the reach that you can get on the TZ100, which you can just put in a pocket.

Mike FL: Is Nikon still waiting for DL18-50's parts?

I read somewhere that all the DLs were going to be on sale in January.

whatta: I would highlight the excellent EVF, bigger then the OVF of a 5d..

The X-Pro2 has a hybrid O/EVF.

Way ahead in price too. You can get a used D750 for a few hundred quid/dollars less now.

(unknown member): IF it was retro it would be full-frame.The problem with halfframe APS-C at 24 megapixels is the NOISE. They are already coming back to the market secondhand. And surely if I can touchscreen focus on my mobile Ishould be able to do it on ANY digital camera. I expect to be able to look through a viewfinder and use my thumb onscreen to move the focus point around . We ALL do .

You can link it to your phone and use touchscreen on that.

jumpshotjr: Olympus E-M10 + 20mm 1.7 or Fuji X-M1 + 35mm 1.4?

I need a smaller backup camera and deciding between this two.

X-M1 with 27mm f/2.8 pancake. Makes it pocketable.

AlienAl: It would be very helpful to know what lenses were used in these test shots (Studio Comparison), and to be able to compare two (or more?) different lenses even on the same camera. I hope and presume dpreview is using the kit lenses (where applicable), the ones most people want to see. E.g., I'm interested in the Samsung NX500 - above all with the kit lens (the 16-50mm 3,5-5,6/16-50 PZ ED OIS). If I compare it to any other camera, I don't know how to judge. I'd like to compare it also to its superior, heavier sibling, the 16-50mm f2-2.8 S ED OIS, just to see what you get for the extra money. The Imaging Resource has NX500 test shots done with a Samsung 60mm macro, to which the kit lens probably can not be compared - the mannikin looks as sharp as can be, but I don't think you'l get this with the kit lens, even though it seems to be rather good, better than average. So that's not very helpful. (This comment is here because the page for the NX500 doesn't allow for it.)

It's not an interchangeable lens camera.

alphaumi: I have a question concerning the dynamic range. I added d7100 to the chart and d7100 has more than a full stop advantage over d610 in shadows and 2/3 advantage in highlights. Is this what the graph shows or i can't read it right. I thought that a full frame camera will have better dynamic range than APS-C.

According to this, the DR is better on the 610.
