DouglasGottlieb: Use existing lenses as well or faster than a DSLR or don't bother

I am no expert on this, but since my existing lenses work just fine on my FM / FE2 bodies with the mount they have, why is it not possible to make a mirrorless body closer to that size (I realize there's a bunch of electronics in there) than to the D750 etc? It may not be as small as the FM, but smaller than the current crop of DSLR's.

flashcactus: Pentax has been my preferred brand for many years, starting when I bought two Pentax 6x7s. As for the K-1000, it lacks one key feature for beginners- no DOF preview. On that basis, any Pentax upstream of the K-1000 is a better bet. The MX, tiny, robust and beautiful, (very reminiscent of the Nikon Fm, which was also superb and virtually identical to use). Others are the KM, KX, and ultimately, the superb LX. Best high end film slr ever.

Agree about the MX. There was also an ME Super, right?

Great article! I'd add the Nikon FM3a, Nikon 35Ti, Contax T2, and Nikon F100 for something more modern. Always preferred my F100 to the N90s. Also loved the Olympus OM-4T.

A nice alternative to a 'traditional' review - thanks!

Whatever the reasons, I am saddened to see them go. Many jobs lost and lives changed...
