Unfortunately I've not really had a chance to use my 17-28 or 28-200 since I got them due to UK lockdown. Hopefully will be good to go again in Summer!

Short answer, no, it doesn't work with the Sony teleconverter. No Sigma don't have plans to release their own for Sony FE as they only have a license to do lenses, not teleconverters. If you need ...

Well if as you say we assume that money isn't an issue then you'll miss nothing as you'll still have the RIV also. If you're getting rid of it to fund the A1 then cost is an issue in some way and ...

Couldn't agree more with your second point. It's kinda similar to why the big car and motorbike companies spend big millions on designing and racing cars that no one will ever buy - it's a chance ...

If your situation is just temporary have you considered selling and taking a break from dedicated camera photography for a bit? If you could be patient for a bit you might be able to sell your ...

Another vote for the Rii and Tamron. I agree that the advantages of the A7iii are overstated. I've never had an issue with battery life on my Rii and rarely use more than one battery in a day. If ...

Maybe consider the Tamron 17-28 also. It won't quiet get you all the way into the normal-ish perspective of the 16-35 but is a tonne smaller and cheaper with very good image quality.

I'd do a bit more searching on this site before narrowing your choice down to that - there's a long relatively recent thread on here about the Tamron 28-200 in which a large number of 24-105mm ...

E Sony 20G Tammy 28-200 Sigma 100-400. All 67mm filter thread which is convenient if you use them for landscapes.

You mention kids in your original post, so no, OSS on the Sony won't help you get the faster shutter speed you need to stop them in action, so I'd go with the Sigma.

I bet the zoom is way sharper than the prime at 16 and 35mm....

I got a leash when I was still on M43 and use it now on my A7rii. I don't find the smaller size to be an issue at all as the camera just isn't particularly heavy. Maybe if I get on of the 600mm ...

When I look at a photo I try and ask myself two questions: what is the subject and what story is the photo trying to tell. For me the subject here is the light-stars, but that I'm not sure what ...

Everything I've read says that there's very little to seperate the 28-200 and 28-75 in terms of sharpness. There's also very little difference between it and the 24-105, such that many people on ...

I'd work out if you need/want a 20mm or a 24mm and let that decide for you. Quite a difference between the two...

Both those cards and any with a read write speed faster than the RIIs tested limit of about 35MB/S should be fine. I've got a a very fast Manfrotto UHS 2 card which is great for removing from the ...

I hate to be the guy that now does this, but there's a load of multi-page threads on this lens on this forum already. Maybe try to search them out and read them?!

Get a Godox; they are priced very well and good quality. If as you say you want to expand you photography more and more I'd also get a cheaper remote transmitter and try off camera flash. It will ...

Cheapest new lens with much in the way of reach would be the new Tamron 70-300 I'd have thought. Only just come out so there are a few reviews around of it and sure there will be some sales on ...
