Thanks for all comments and complaints.

Using a firm tripod with a remote shutter and a light range of full 7 stops and using the lens at f/7.1 all together yields the sharpness. The stillness of the environment helped too.. Scaling down a 24MP image also helps.

7 untouched RAW images processed in PhotomatixPro using details enhancer mode with strength 90 and microcontrast 9 and the rest of the settings were at their default state. No alignment was necessary when importing.

Photoshop is used for only resizing and converting tiff to jpeg..

Considering all steps above, i think this is a basic pp. !!

Rules for this contest does not say "no hdr" as well. !!

Using hdr tecnique for this scene was actually respecting what i've seen there, even D3X with its huge 13.7 eV dynamic range was not enough to reflect the scene without some serious degree of post processing.
Many of the recent compact cameras like sony nex-5, nikon P100 and some others have built-in hdr functions just to raise the dynamic quality of the photos to the level of the human eye. Sensor producers are constantly in search of better dynamic ranges. Just consider the progress from D70 to D3X, huge icrease in dynamic range, sharpness, noise etc. etc.

So i think increasing the dynamic range should not be mixed with extensive pp.

Thanks again, RS.
