adegroot: I wrote them and protested strongly against the $79.99 upgrade fee; they are going to offer it for free. Just ask for it yourself as well, until the moment they publicly announce it.

I also wrote to them, since I'd purchased the software this summer. They told me that 2019 is better and that I have already benefited from 'the free updates we've issued for 2018'. Despite setting out the common problems I and others have had with 2018 I was advised to refer my problems to customer support who will resolve them. They can't resolve them - the software is unstable and constantly in beta mode. I'm shocked at the awful customer service - any other store would surely have offered a refund or a discount.

tar4heel2: Nothing has changed. First image I loaded in the new version--a 16-bit TIF--it crashed.

Loaded a RAW file from my Pentax 645Z and it was lightning fast!! But, I still have problems with pink areas of RAW files from a 645Z.

It should not be crashing when opening TIF files.

I'm seeing no performance improvement - like you, I've had crashes. The develop module is just as slow, the only difference is that instead of seeing a 'blank' when processing a RAW file I now see a very pixilated version of the image before it (eventually) renders. I have a pretty powerful PC. So for me, I'm not getting any benefit at all with the 'huge boost' of 2018.5. It's still so slow, it's just not tenable.
