  • A camera that would wow me probably will never be built. Imagine a totally different form factor, more of a gun shape, trigger for shutter release, buttons on both sides for right or left handed ...
  • Replied in Memory
I do back up nightly. If I haven't brought a laptop, I'd use the second slot on the E-M1/ii to create a redundant copy that stays in the room in case the camera is lost or the main card is corrupted.

Yes, thinking a TG would be good for a balloon ride... Nice big wrist strap so no chance to drop it, tuck in pocket for the landing.
  • Replied in All day drizzle.
Very dusty conditions. Blowing wet snow. Weather sealing gives me a little peace of mind, knowing I don't have to tuck the camera away just because things are getting a little wet.  And a lens hood ...
  • Replied in Actually...
I never traveled w less than my 28-70/80-200 combo and an OM-4, but that kit was pretty compact in FF terms. I do get the desire to travel light, and I prefer to not pack more than I can carry on ...
  • Replied in No bag...
For going out w camera and a couple spare lenses, I prefer a pocket vest to a backpack or camera bag. For hot weather, a mesh vest adds little to heat retention, and in cold or miserable weather a ...
  • Actually, the more I think on it... I rarely shot w/o the landscape grip on my E-M5, the big issue was swapping out the battery, which was needed too frequently on that camera, and I didn't like ...
  • Great shots. I've yet to feel comfortable including people in my street work, sticking to storefronts, reflections and shadows.
  • At first, the yellow behind the bird bothered me, but the more I look at it the more I think it adds to the image.  Sort of an energy trail radiating from the bird. Elizabeth Morton preserve, where ...
  • That second shot looks almost like a private drive rather than a public road, although I have seen public roads that were narrower and not well maintained. Good for the pole that is not a high ...
  • Give me the function of the E-M1/III in the body of the E-M5 mk1.  Give me a removable two part grip with reliable electrical contacts that slides/clips together, no tightening the tripod screw, ...
  • something to photograph, sometimes you just have to change how you look at things. Shadow of a coat rack or something out of a Lovecraft story?
  • Yes, I love playing w reflections. The windows of this church were above eye level, so the shot was taken holding the camera over my head. Much of the detail wasn't even visible until I used the ...
  • Old church at Bethpage village restoration, E-M1/II, 12-200mm, Dramatic Tone filter.
  • On a trip to Scotland a few years back, I took E-M5 12-50 40-150 45/1.8 9-18 E-PL1 as a backup body Tripod What I found: *the 12-50 could be dim, and I hated the power zoom. *found myself swapping ...
  • But nothing is stopping you from using only one lens for your artistic photography, say a 17mm, yet having a zoom for when you're taking snaps of the family, and maybe a long lens for birding or a ...
  • Replied in Instead of flash
I got a hot shoe mount LED gizmo... two flexible arms that put the light right where you need, works with most lenses to eliminate the lens shadow with small pop-up or add-on flash. And has the ...
  • Replied in WR vs bags
On my trip to Scotland, there were days it rained... all day.  Being on a tight schedule, I couldn't just wait for a sunny day to shoot. I recall walking the Two Churches trail at dusk, in a light ...
