LookintotheMirrorlessoften: the m6 with no viewfinder and a soon to be dead m mount, nikons questionable future. imho If you’re starting new get a fuji or a sony. and with sony you can at least upgrade to full frame. with fuji you’re stuck in a closed overpriced aps c mount

I think anyone thinking about fuji X-trans with LR needs to test out first before committing. Despite the improvements to LR in handling X-Trans, I just wasn't happy with the results. If forced me to find other software, and I'm very glad it did because I'm able to get far better results with LR alternatives for both X-Trans and older bayer raw files. I love fuji but tend not to recommend any X-Trans cameras to anyone who does not want to leave LR.

Shutterlouse: Is it faster? It was too slow for more than limited use when I tried it.

over on pixls.us forum, those who have tried it are reporting much faster performance especially in the lighttable module.

danm_cool: You are missing the Panasonic LX10/LX15 from this comparison, which has the sharpest lens of all the 1" expert cameras!

Adding the LX10 gives a really good example of variances in these cameras. Add it then check the lower left corner then the lower right corner. For anything on the left side of the chart the LX10 image looks great, but something is wonky with this tested version on the right side especially towards the bottom corner.

Bbawt1: I've had my X-T20 for just under a month now. I bought it because it was an awesome little rig for the money. I knew I wasn't buying an X-T2 at almost twice the price. And I was very happy with it as it was. Overall, very happy with my purchase. Then along comes this firmware update - awesome! My camera works even better! I'm a very happy and grateful customer of Fuji's. Some of the griping and complaints about this firmware update not turning an X-T20 into an X-T2 is bizarre.

Sorry, @HenryDJP I don't understand your point. Let me clarify mine. There are lots of complaints from people saying the firmware update for the X-T20 either: 1) should have been there when the camera was first released, or 2) didn't give all the features they thought they should have got based on what the higher end X-T2 can do. I simply don't understand these complaints. I knew the capability and limits of my X-T20 when I bought it - it was the right fit for me. Any firmware updates from Fuji beyond fixing bugs should be seen as a real positive move by Fuji.

Bbawt1: Nice article, he is doing a lot of good work with the Fund. Yet once again I'm astounded at the reaction of readers. Why do people feel such need to bash so much? He has obviously gone to Nepal many times, and now he only takes a camera phone. Great! And the photos are pretty good for not taking anything else for gear. The article wasn't titled "Should Dad take better gear to Nepal?" Nor was it titled "Should Dad take a different camera phone than an Iphone to Nepal?" But apparently that's what many people here think the point of the story was. If DPRs comments section was only about additional contribution of questions, ideas or information from interested readers, I'd love reading through them...instead its mostly "here's my opinion" and mostly in the rudest possible way. I just don't get it.

@tko earlier today someone said "Tko...,maybe pull your head out of your backside before you post." It was good advice.

Awesome article. As I slowly succumb to the ever-increasing GAS attacks, and find myself hypnotized by DPR's comparison tool, I need an occasional swift kick in the butt to get out shooting with the gear I already have, focus on getting better at my hobby, and being a bit more humble that there are people out there that can run circles around my shooting with "ancient" technology. Thanks for this informative and eye-opening read!
