Toilet Roll: The blurry images indicate a glaring issue within the companies budget and lack of funds for quality control. Releasing something this bad for any price is not acceptable

I think DPR use the pre-production camera from the DPR TV review. Up to now, the new users of this camera can not get this shutter shock in there tests.

Maybe it is simple this pre-production camera.

phoenix15: It is strange the blurry images are only at low iso, 100 and 200. What is the correlation of low iso and shutter shock?

That is only DP's wrong wording. It has nothing to do with the ISO, DP mean the pictures at this ISO, which has because of the ISO this shutter speed, where they think it happens.
BTW: I saw in the meantime posts of some K3 III users testing this shutter speeds with a tripod. One of them used even the same lens.
result: no one had a shutter shock problem, their pictures are very sharp

KPM2: Do that fast lens have still focus shift, or is that gone do to the lens design ?

best regards. KPM2

Yes, mirrorless cameras can do that, but I think it depends on the brand, the AF mode and if you use AF-S or AF-C. Therefore it would be good to know if this fast lens do have still a focus shift.
A DSLR could look at the used aperture, focus at full open and when the aperture is not at full open, it gives a micro AF step correction, when the lens has focus shift.

Nice video !

About the AF-C test I have a question:
It is not about the compare to the D500, where I also not know, if this camera was set to it's optimal settings, it's only about the K3 III:
The default AF-C mode is AUTO, where the camera decide if it use FPS priority or focus priority. Did you used this default AUTO setting ? .... or did you set the camera to only use focus priority ?

KPM2: I am sure that this camera will be the most comfortable Pentax camera I ever used.
Not only that the buttons are there, where I like to find them, do to the USER modes and this new Fn + third wheel concept I can not imagine to wish more comfort.

For BIF I have a USER mode where I set the camera to AF-C / 9 point AF / series to high / a special setting for the AF button / my preferred hold time setting and so on.

For landscape I use other settings with an other USER mode, also for using a old manual lens, a DOF-bracketing mode and so on. I have not always to go into the deep and different menus for that....it's just a switch to a USER mode.

best regards. KPM2

Ups...I forgot something to write

With this new Fn + third wheel concept, I am sure that I can set now in my USER modes also the third wheel function, like change the array size for my BIF user modes, normal or focus peeking for my LV user mode. More comfort I can not imagine .... it's great

My silver K1 looks great for me personally and when you count in that this silver editions included the batterie grip and a second battery, it did cost like the black version with a batterie grip ! Same here now, the silver edition of the K 1 II includes also the grip ! That is not a overpriced offer. That you can get now the new and great 50mm and 85mm lens also in silver, like the elder FA* lens, is a gift for all who simple like a silver look.

Sigma do offers only two DG = FF lens for the Pentax mount, a 15mm and 35mm lens. That is not a big loss for me.

Dan Paris: Interesting review, thanks ! It is impressive that at f/1.4 it seems sharper that the new Canon RF in the corners (look at the crane upper-left)... I'm just surprised of your findings that LoCa is much more pronounced than for the Sigma Art, the test at PentaxForums does not seem to support this :
https://www.pentaxforums.com/reviews/hd-pentax-d-fa-50mm-f1-4-sdm-aw/aberrations.html

Hello Dan Paris

Now I am really irritated. The Sigma looks worse here.
It look's like that judging the LoCa via different example pictures like DP do is not a good idea, because there conclusion depends do to different scenes. I mean, how can the Sigma be better when in one and the same scene it looks worse ?

Great lens

I really like the example pictures from Matt Golowczynski.
They show that this lens has a great background bokeh and foreground bokeh.
And a picture like LOW LINE show, that we can compose in an other way now, when we use it full open, because it's so sharp even at the boarders. Well done, what a great lens ! and thanks for this example pictures, which show that.

I don't know, the sample Gallery is full of high dynamic range scenes. Here it do not matter what camera you use, you always have to decide if you expose to the darker parts of the scene and let blown out the highlight, or vice versa.
I hope that nobody think that's a problem of the camera and it's sensor...maybe newbies would do that, because they think the photographer did know what to do and therefore it must be the camera. But on a bad cloudy day, indoor to outdoor picture, no photographer can get out better pictures than and he can not change the weather at that day, so he have to do that. But because for some viewer such pictures could be misleading for to judge the camera, I would personally never post such pictures as example pictures.
BTW, my favourite is the Vesper picture, but only in B&W ...
