  • Oh yes, it's my third trip to Iceland, I saw several places on all of the three trips, but the changing weather conditions always give new lights. Hope you'll find the time to visit, it's worth it ...
  • Very nice set of pictures ! Reminds me some good (old!) souvenirs as I visited Istanbul (in 1988, in that times I was shooting B&W film...) and Egypt in 2005 (7 days Nile « cruise » on a feloucca). ...
  • Thanks Vitée!
(however there are at least 3 persons who disagree with you - 0.5star rating...)

  • Wow that's excellent! Wanted to go out in the night of Thursday to Friday last week in order to try that combination (Comet near M3) but forecast was too windy (17-35 km/h) for my light setup (a ...
  • Submitted a challenge entry Milky Way over Aiguilles d'Arves
The nicest part of the Milky Way (the galactic center) where I live is best visible from about mid April to mid August, and I wanted to picture it above one of our iconic mountains, the Aiguilles d’Arves with its cat-head shaped peak. Had to find a place where I would be sure to get the Milky Way above the peaks, find a date where it is at the right place and without moon (which would wash out the Milky Way), and of course a night with good weather. I used Stellarium to see where the Milky Way is at different dates and times. All this came together on the 12th of June this year.

  • Thanks. Hope for you too, normally you should have a better chance at wildlife (birds - puffins season -, whales and, if you go to the West fjords, arctic foxes). But your chances for Northern ...
  • Haha, not sure you've got enough holidays in the US for 3 weeks? :-D And would have been somewhat cramped in the tent (we were camping during our trip)... ;-)
  • Oh for sure we got our share of rainbows, some from waterfalls: Rainbow at Dettifoss waterfall and some from rain: Rainbow along Berufjördur but hey, if there is a rainbow then there is an opening ...

After 2 years without travel due to pandemic (a trip to Argentina cancelled…), we opted for 3 weeks Iceland in September-October. We were not very lucky with the fauna (no arctic foxes in ...

That was our second time at Cheserys, the first time (3 years ago) was on a moonless night so the mountains were not well...

  • Submitted a challenge entry Lac de Chéserys - France
Stars and mountains reflection in the Chéserys Lake near Chamonix. Mountains are lit by the setting (nearly full) moon.
The mountains belong to the Mont-Blanc chain, and 1/3 from the right one can see the headlamps of people going for the Mont-Blanc.

  • A few reasons why I recently added a (second hand) Z6 to my D850 : - lenses with less coma : as an occasional astrophotographer, I used 20mm f/1.8, 28mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.8, 24-70mm f/2.8 on D850 and ...
  • If you can not see the stars sharply, the polarscope is most likely not focused for your eyesight. There are two things to focus : - the dial (illuminated circles) which you focus with the focus ...

  • Hi Okky, I see you were able to find the right position to get your polar scope illuminated, that’s good. Now to the alignment, it’s asking a bit training, but once you’ve been able to understand ...

  • Could not go out on the night of the maximum (night of 12th to 13th) due to bad weather forecast, so we went out the night before. As others have already noted, this may be one of the worst ...
