I for one saw this coming a long time ago and cut down my personal time investment in it then.

I know a lot of photographers whose photography existence was based on how many ‘followers’ they had and their whole marketing was based around how insta famous they were. I found that pretty sad personally.

Photography as we all knew it has gone and even the new world photography is going too. The short term future is in video of you want a successful business. It’s a little harder to fudge your talent in that but I’m sure it’s future is dubious also.

Michael B 66: Bokeh is in my eyes often disgusting, while sharpness and contrast are very good. Strong distortion disqualifies it as walkaround lens with architectural motives.

The funny thing is that this supports my view of the EF-M 32 as current holy grail in terms of technical IQ AND rendering AND portability AND price while I do know that this is only an amateur lens. But the satisfaction factor is very high with this one.

An APSC piece of glass on a FF is fairly useless wouldn't you agree? Enjoy your 'M'....

photomad: Im quite impressed. Ive been pouring over them at work and had my doubts but now Ive had the chance to work them in my usual environment Im very impressed. There is way more CA wide open then I thought there would be but it cleans up easily with a click.
Sharpness is a non issue. Bokeh is pretty good at the lower shutter speeds and Im sure with EFCS off the faster ones will soften up further. I printed a test strip at work to 35 inches and it looked very very good.
As an ex owner of the 40mm on my A7r3, the 35mm is definitely not as well corrected but it has some nice traits of its own. And I much prefer 35mm focal length. Ill wait for some further samples before making a final decision.

Haha... i work in a professional photo lab! We also sell high end photo gear so lets just say its research...

tingel7: At least the 35 1.2 Art gallery works already.

Cheers. I actually dont expect it to be the ultimate in bokeh. Theres a fine balance between sharpness and bokeh. The best bokeh tends not to be the sharpest and vice versa. I had the 40mm for a while and that held true (give or take). I still enjoyed it so I am certainly intrigues by the 35mm

Kodak, responsible for poor decisions since ages ago! It will be introduced and be of such a price that its a pointless exercise. Haven't we had big price increases on current film stock because of production costs?! Ridiculous....

OldSchoolNewSchool: Looks like a very nice lens. 40mm on a full-frame camera is my favorite focal length. If this lens was smaller—maybe an f/1.7 max aperture—and cost no more than $999 USD, I'd probably get it. It's just a little too "much" for me: too much size, too much weight, too much price. But I have to give kudos to Sigma for making products that Cansonikon refuses to make.

I picked it up in Auss on that deal too as I was leaving the country, I then got the 10% tax back off that at the airport as well!!

I live not far from here and visit on occasions. It is a great scene and used to be a nice place to chill out and enjoy the scene. Now days, every sunrise and sunset there would be 150 odd people fighting for tripod space, yelling at each other. It actually horrible and a very embarrassing indictment on human nature.

All these articles about should serve as a warning shot. Department of Conservation do not mess about here on such matters, If people dont stop climbing all over it you will find youve had the most expensive holiday ever!

Show some respect for a flora and get the f*** off it. Your not the first to photograph it and you most certainly dont have the best shot of it. Your social media status will survive intact.....

I was really hoping this camera would shut up the Sony voice in my head. I much prefer how the 5D handles over the A7 I have. Unfortunately Im seeing all the same Canon traits that has left them lagging behind.

Im a little worried for them as they announced this so far out that it gave Sony the opportunity to decide what hand to play and Im sure it will smash this for image quality.

Looks like we have to adapt to hybrid systems if we wish to stay at the cutting edge for our clients.
