I ended up setting human face/eye on U1, Animal AF on U2. Both with its different independent settings. What's a little strange is that drive mode is not saved in the user settings. If I am single ...

I have the AF-area mode set to fn1, but that do not bring up the possibility to change human/animal just the mode/size of the focus points. Is it firmware related, im running 3.10 right now?

I didn't mention, but it's for the Z6 mark 1, saw that the manual you referred to was for the version 2 of the camera. And I don't seem to find that AFA to be assigned to a fn button..
-
I had the Z6 for some time and coming from a Sony body I'm not being able to find how to set up a quick TOGGLE button between human and animal eye AF. I found that really helpful to do when ...

The AF-C on the R & RP is one of the most solid AF performer out there if you take both video and stills in consideration.
