Malling: Nice and if you screw up it will cost you a much more expensive repair at a shop because you tried to do it yourself and those made a warranty void. Smart move.

Cant really see anyone start to jiggle with the tools them self if the product still is under warranty though.

1 Nikon D750
1 Nikon D4

2 camera models won more than one time.
Each camera brand/model and smartphones are somewhat represented.

Nice to se that gear doesn't matter all that much. It's a tool for catching what you see.

TheBestCameraIsTheOneYouActuallyShoot: Great shots and it’s interesting to see the range of equipment. People should note the years on all this hardware (since you don’t need the latest and greatest obviously to create compelling shots).

True. These days with all that GAS. A reminder that the camera only catches what you see.

Jordan should, in the challenge, be using a Canon 5D mark II, which was the game changer with a DSLR that could shoot videos :)

forest dream: IMO Huawei P30 which has similar price but better photo feature (especially front selfie camera) is a better deal.

Not for those who consider the android as just Samsung phones which they have tried in 2008 and didn't like then. Mind is already set and they will buy this.

AlanWatson: Always loved the LX compacts, and came close to buying the LX3 more than once. Eventually I bought a second-hand LX7 as a "keep in my bag (or pocket)" camera. Although phone cameras have now reached the point where I am prepared to use them for something other than photographing receipts (and indeed my phone handles tricky lighting better than the LX7), I still keep it in my daysack for when I want more flexibility, or just something that's a bit more fun to use.

I agree with you regarding the phones nowadays. But there is always something other with a real compact camera, the mind of photography and handling that often lacks in smartphones. It just doesn't feel the same :)

rghoag: When I look back at old files on my computer, some of my best shots were
taken with the LX2, 3 and 5. Why? The size I always had it with me on adventures
and left my Full frame at home. Shots on hikes and canoe trips and city streets.
All about the size. The JPGs were fine, and it fit in my pocket.

The best camera is always the one you got with you... I heard :P Nowadays the smartphones has taken a big slice of that. And to be honest, many times my phone has captured great shots, while, as you say, the full frame camera is at home.

Sounds great... But being able to edit those 8K clips will consume som juice... :P

Operon: With the X-T4's release a month away, this article is simply useless if not a bit inane. Is DPR that hard up for editorial content?

Thinking that too... It would have made sense if they would have come up with an article/vid about them after the XT4 release when Fuji definitely will reduce the price on them. Especially on the XT3.

richard cohen: I wonder if they have solved the issues with af performance? If so this could be a great camera, the nikon d850 of mirrorless. That's the camera I wish nikon was working on....

The AF-C on the R & RP is one of the most solid AF performer out there if you take both video and stills in consideration.

DejayRezme: What could be even better is to solder a USB-C plug to your headphones. If you're serious about video shooting.

Or you could have a screw in USB adapter. Or use tape to fix them together more permanently.

Or even better a good digital wireless standard so you don't have to use wires at all, your headphones are wireless and you can just connect multiple microphones wireless to your camera, lapel or otherwise. And yeah you might need something with more bandwidth than bluetooth.

Or even just bluetooth just for headphones with lower quality for monitoring audio levels should be enough.

Isn't it "mindboggling" to omit such an obvious feature? ;)

And power the camera or charging through PD bank while the camera while on a rig... Maybe solder the headphones to a powerbank also ;)

Link | Posted on Feb 28, 2020 at 20:52 UTC

Biggest problem is now charging, or power the camera via PD powerbank while using headphones ie on a rig or while monitoring/reviewing the clips..
To put the headphone jack there would have been soo easy, and something I used on the XT3...

happy guardian: why buy Oly when you can buy Fujifilm? Only compelling argument for Oly is IBIS and slightly more affordable lenses.

Yepp those wormy artifacts made me leave Fuji and the X-T3 for know at least. I shot a lot in dark environments and even though the DR is good, the artifacts will come.

Heard that the IBIS is really great in that body, and not to be forgotten, the eye-af. No sport to take award winning photos with such a beast.
