Maybe its just because cameras from the last 3-4 years are so good that most of us are happy to use them for a longer period of time than before. And maybe the GAS is being cured and people actually are using the gear than is being in front of DP and youtube and feed theyre GAS.

inorogNL: Why do we even mention digital zoom? Anyone can crop 10x.50x, 100x?

Its maybe some software/hardware enhanced type?

If it had a Canon branding it would have been rubbish junk.

rcl100: The non-full frame market is stuck in the stone age. Does a "family" get more out of this overengineered thing than they would from s decent phone? Sony still doesn't put in something as basic as internal image stabilization. Shoot video? Well, please be happy with mediocre kit lens.

For that money no way. Just get a Eos RP for family photos and get the ability to use the wide selection of EF lenses.

On article Nikon Z50 initial review: What's new, how it compares (1156 comments in total)

Just wondered how the preview would have sounded like if someone smacked a Canon sticker on the camera instead...
Just thought of the things that Canon got a whole lot of critique for on the M-cameras for things that DP review now only refers back to the price point. The price point that the M cameras hade way below in 2017...

LeDatas: When Olympus releases their midrange EM5.3 soon and its sensor is "only" 20MP, just like this z50, will people freak-out and claim 4/3rd is dead? Seems likely...

Yepp haters will never quit. Seemed strange to not ad ibis when its equipped with that gape in front. And the joystick? Seems like an Canon m5 light...But without dp autofocus.

Please complain about 24p update

Aegon Targaryen: What the 90D and M6 need is a 2nd card slot, not 24p... Just sayin'...

I send my photos continuously to my phone as a back up. I have never been forced to use the back-ups. What I do think is nice with my X-T3 is that you split raw files on one card and the jpg:s on the other.

Dexter75: So they didn’t actually improve the eye AF speed itself, they just made software improvements so the little AF box keeps up better? Lol. Oh Canon. At least they are trying.

Yes its like that test between the EOS R and the Sony A7 III, where the eos beat the sony in actual shots in focus, even if the viewfinder/screen showed different... Talking out of both experiences of owning the RP and the XT3, they are not that far apart that some gearhead youtube shooters might think.

If you looked at the video you should have seen that there is a big improvement. And if I compare my RP and my Xt3 the X-T3 is much faster at the screen in terms of follow the eye. But looking at the end result and percent in focus I can honestly say that they are really close, maybe the Canon is even better sometimes

On article Hands on with the Sony a6600 and a6100 (399 comments in total)

No tiltyflippy screen, same (some changes) bad ergos. And a really bad cam for left eye shooters. No Sonys dead, definitely, over done... (ironi)

If you look at the video https://youtu.be/C7IEXyGyw1Q
I would not call that a "minor" update...

voronspb: Historically the plastic-fantastic lenses were around 100 USD. Then Sony invented FE50/1.8 for 250 USD. And now there's Canon RF for 450 USD. Inflation is pretty much terrible in these days...

Actually it looks like a good lens. And it's the only RF lens which matches the EOS RP body. But nobody will jump off EF or FE ship just because of it.

The 50mm is one of canons most popular primes in the EF system. Light, cheap and dot the price nice output. I think we will see a 1.8 and a 1.4 50mm consumer grade sometime. But this is not it. There have been EF 35mm lenses before, and no where near the price of the cheapish 50mm.

Great, now the tuubers can whine over the lack of 16k in cameras, and god forbidden crop 8k... And I really hope that every camera comes with a rotating tiltyflippyscreen so they all can film them self....

And the lack of 4k without crop.. And god forsake, the lack of tiltyflippyscreen so they can actually see them selfs in front of the camera with the animals behind them....

karoly7603: DSLRs are still the best for wildlife!

Pros and serious amateurs invest in a whole system, not just the camera it self. So trading a whole system for another brand would be an economic suicide. And yes, you can adapt lenses to other cameras, and even if its working great this days, it never outperforms native lenses on the same brand Camera, I´ve tried it over and over with both Sony and Fuji.

Camera: Canon EOS 6D with Canon 500mm EF f/4 L IS USM lens; 1/1500 second at f/5.6; ISO 800

Glass is important for iQ, no matter how many times it is being written or spoken. Some trust more in upgrading the camera and being cheapish about the lenses. Some just think of investing in a camera rather than a whole system instead. Thinking of it that way there is not many brands that can touch Canon as a system brand.

pentaust: 10 awards. 3 of them captured with full frame. 7 of them captured with aps-c. 2 of them captured with entry level aps camera models. 0 of them captured with a mirrorless camera. Looks like D500, 7DII and 1DxII did an excellent job here, but most importantly the photographer was there are the right time and place to press the shutter button.

Yep and not home messing over dynamic range and second cardslots , tiltyflippyscreens. Not even the best camera on paper is worth nothing when not out using it. And the other way around, even the simplest cameras can in the right hands produce miracles...

Just to join the tubers. "No tiltyflippyselfiescreen, Just one card slot, only contrast detect AF (Wining about every Panasonic review even if it works great)". And dont forget the grip. Holy cow, the grip is even worse than the no grippy X-T3 (Not my own words but it must be true coming out of the tube).
