HeyItsJoel: Lay person: wants a smartphone that takes excellent photos/videos.
Photographers: wants a camera that takes phone calls.

I want a phone that takes great photos and a camera that is a camera. Wifi is fine so I am able to share my photos. With Bluetooth 5.0 hope to see if that is able to transfer photos. Being very low power and all.

aris14: Τhe happy years till '10s resulted in cam's sales growth from people that they did not really wanted a cam. I have a lot of friends with Canikon's etc entry level DSLRs who rarely use them along with some good other non DSLRs cams. Professionals and enthusiast photogs market I guess it's rather steady if not slightly growing but this is not the niche that will reflect in total market growth more than a 5%. Both pros and enthusiasts they use a photo printer for their work, no matter the volume of their work. Photo printers market seems steady if not declining since photos are mainly aimed at web presentation. Technology seems to be decisive only in cell phones which now produce images with IQ comparable to an enthusiast compact cam of 5-10 years ago.
I think that cam manufacturers know very well that the "golden" years is something with an expire label on it, if they don't and cannot manage it they simply cease to exist.

Well my S7 is better then my olympus xz1 base iso in raw.
So I would assume the pixel would be better vs the S90 base iso in raw.

Tan68: People with comparable Canon equipment also looking to switch to Sony aren't likely to need help with the math...

They also would not sell their gear for so cheap.

DPR.... You prices are way off base for selling Canon gear. The you'd be in the 23 to 27k range for all of that.

DesoloZantas: They need to come out with a new J6 with Viewfinder and faster lenses

Redfox, every system has its down sides. The 1 series AF system and potential reach would alone make it great for birding.

Correct blue velvet

Luke Kaven: This camera, and the Nikon D3X, had the most beautiful colors of any DSLR I've seen before or since. There was something magical about that version of the Exmor sensor that none have matched since.

It's all in the eyes of the beholder of coarse. I never really paid much attention to the nikon d3x. It was to spendy for my blood. Just saw photos of the 1d2/s2 series in Canon forums.
I'm still waiting for something similar to come out. Those days are dead I suppose. All people care about is DR and high iso performance.

Sorry but I feel the 5D and 1dsmk2 take the crown for creating beautiful images. The rendering it just beautiful.

I had an A900 for a year. It was a great camera. Very comfortable.
As for the 5D. I bought that a replaced my A900 with it. It was also a very good camera. I still love its images. The 5D and 1dsmk2 both have very lovely images. Extremely unique. They just have a look to them. The A900 didn't have such files. But it was still a great camera.

rhlpetrus: Why no cityscape with D810? It is much better than the Canon on the portrait, in all aspects, should do well on the other image as well, despite its lower pixel count. Awesome performance by the dslr.

On the portrait, one issue with the Nikon x Fuji comparison is the DoF, which is much shallower on the Fuji, just check the area around the tie knot, the Fuji is oof there, while the Nikon is still holding it pretty well. I assume both were focused on the left eye, was that so?

Perhaps the 100mm L macro and take 2 steps back.

And in phone arenas shootout the S7 edge(same camera and hardware) won.... Your point is?

PhotoUniverse: It seems best phone cameras are Google's and Apple's

IPhones haven't lead in cameras since the 4s. The only thing they can do better in some cases is video. But the new flagship androids mostly best it in still image and sharpness.
DPR graded things besides picture IQ.
Is picture IQ they lag behind. Once it gets dim out the 1/3.0 sensor just cannot compete with a 1/2.3 or 1/2.5 sensors.

Very true! It could be! It's anyone's guess!

Peiasdf: First batch and Chinese version always comes with Japanese parts and later batches is luck of the draw. You can tell the Japanese parts are higher quality because Note 7 only use SONY sensor and when the battery started exploding, Samsung suspects bad battery only affected Korean made cells and not TDK cells in Chinese models.

Yeah... This isn't true. I got my S7 on release and many people in the US got the an S7 with a Samsung sensor on release. You can check XDA for screen shots if you'd like.

Well the S7 had the best cell phone camera ever released until the Google pixel. I'm sure this will be no different. There is an NDA right now on S8 reviews. So they are likely just guessing... I can guarantee it'll likely be the best camera for the first half of the year until the new pixel is released.

cosinaphile: it matters little as both sensors are of a size that precludes use for quality photography , even if a a billion selfie aficionados didn't get the memo

a 1 1.7 sized sensor like the lx3 lx5 tl500 ex1 gx200 grlll is the minimum that is worth shooting with

Actually on a sunny day. My S7 is actually better in raw vs my Olympus xz1 in raw. In every aspect. Noise, sharpness and DR.

It's random, it's been this way since the S5. It doesnt matter which region. You don't know until you download the app needed to find out which one you have. After that, you now know... I guess... It doesn't really matter. I've had 3 S7's one with a Sony and 2 with the Samsung sensors. I haven't noticed any difference.
