The Ricoh R4 was a GREAT small, mid range zoom camera! I am still worry mine was killed in Habana by a rouge wave.
  • Interesting. Usually, with other brands like Pentax and Fuji, the internal, non user replaceable  battery holds the Date and Time information. Maybe not in case of Ricoh. . .
  • That is most probably true with the GR series, with their APS-C sensors. But not with the earlier, smaller sensor GRDs.
  • Size is THE most important thing for me regarding walk around camera gear, so I normally shoot with some variety of Ricoh (my GRII will be coming next month). But I also like m4/3s gear. That is ...
  • Snap works perfectly in P mode. Same as in A or S (or M for that matter). This holds true for all the GR varieties that I have owned (4). BTW, with the small sensor in the GRDIII and IV, there is ...
  • Jack, I am really surprised that the GR did so well. The photographer had something to do with too, I suppose. GRIN

Thanks. I mostly 'bring the camera up' when shooting, and I always have the camera, with a wrist strap, in my hand whenever I leave the house. And of course I use Snap focus. GRIN.
  • Dale, Thank you very much!

For 'street' just set it to 1.5 (or 2.5), see it and shoot it. It is faster than anything but maybe the latest, greatest AF systems. Make sure the shutter speed it high enough to avoid motion ...
  • Hey Tom, I thought you might drop in! GRIN. Yes, the smallest Panas are great. The only thing I don't like about mine is the Japanese menus (bought it in Japan of course). But it is 'set it and ...
  • Nice. Both the place and the pix.
  • That would be pretty hard, since the GRD3 died in a beer shower just after the national college football championship game at Koshien. To be replaced by a used GRD4.
  • I had the GRD3 and now have the grd4 but never noticed any difference in 'sharpness,' for what it is worth.
  • In Japan used V2s can usually be found for under ¥30,000, and V1s for under ¥10,000. I try to get all my gear there, which is harder now that I have moved to Pamplona. GRIN
  • Thank you. We are here for the Fiesta del Pilar, and it is very colorful. The city itself is very laid back. Been here twice before and plan to be back (we live now in Pamplona).
  • Created photo thread Red Bike Zaragoza
Taken in Spain this week during the Pilar festival; Look a bit better at larger sizes.
  • The V2 is smaller, has more megapixels (for cropping), and a scene dial than the V1. It is more orthodox than the quirky V1. I have both and like shooting with them. I mainly shoot the V1 in B&W, ...
  • I think the GM5 is great! I mostly use it with the small kit lenses: 12-32 and 35-100. Terrific. Of course I shoot it in RAW (just like my Ricohs but not my Fujis). Small is beautiful. GRIN
  • I shoot them all (including the Fuji MX-1 with the 27 prime mentioned above). I much prefer small cameras. I use my GRD4 for street all the time. Right now I am in Zaragoza for the last corridas ...
  • It didn't use to be this way, back in the day of the R4. Really. GRIN
