On photo Santoku Knife and Red Cabbage in the Kitchen knife and cooking product/s challenge (3 comments in total)
In reply to:

santamonica812: Beautiful knife. The lighting is pretty flat and therefore lacks drama. I am not seeing any cabbage...it is hidden in the pattern to the viewers' right??? The title is odd...in a black and white image, I have no idea why a title would include the color of an object.

The lighting isn’t flat. In reality the scallops on the blade are the same colour as the rest of the blade - it is all silver. The only thing that renders them a different shade in the photograph is the angle of the light. The pattern to the right is the cabbage, the knife is resting on it. The title includes the word red because that is the name of the vegetable: a “red cabbage”.

Chris

Thanks Chris. We’ve been in lockdown for the last 6 weeks so I’ve been trying to improve my photography by turning mundane subjects into interesting photographs. Some work better than others.

Congratulations on the win.
