Tamron announced the SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 Di VC USD at the end of 2013, and as one of the cheapest ways to reach past a 400mm focal length, it quickly became popular with amateur wildlife and sports photographers. Dan was born in the UK but a passion for mountain life soon found him leaving his engineering background in England and setting up in British Columbia, Canada. In the resort town of Whistler he turned to photography as a full time career and quickly made a name for himself amongst the action sports community, shooting alongside many of the world's best athletes.
Dan's editorial images have appeared in over 100 publications around the world and his commercial work is used by brands such as Nike, Red Bull and Salomon.
He splits his time between shooting editorial and commercial work as well as running his educational photography business which aims to teach other young photographers through seminars, magazine articles and contributions to several photography websites like DPReview.com and ProVideoCoalition.com

Western Digital's Wi-Fi enabled My Passport Wireless is a hard drive that features a built-in SD card reader. Update: Leica has issued an official statement addressing the reports of sensor corrosion. A growing number of Leica users are reporting white spots appearing on images taken with M9, M9-P, M Monochrom and M-E cameras. Earlier this year, storage manufacturer LaCie launched an upgraded version of its Rugged hard drive that features improved damage resistance and a built-in Thunderbolt cable. Western Digital has launched a new wireless-enabled hard drive that uniquely features a built-in SD card reader. This December, Canon will release a firmware update for its popular EOS C500 and EOS C300 video cameras, as well as version 1.3 of its Cinema RAW Development software. Support is added for a new color space used in recent broadcast testing, and both cameras will also gain the ability to use the assignable Func. button to specify color temperature. Read more

Lens adapter manufacturer Metabones has launched a pair of long-awaited Canon EF to Micro Four Thirds lens adapters. The first adapter is the Smart Mount version which allows electronic control of the aperture in a Canon lens from a Micro Four Thirds camera, as well as correct recording of EXIF information and activation of Image Stabilization where present. This week Corel has unveiled PaintShop Pro X7 and PaintShop Pro X7 Ultimate, two new versions of its image editing software for Windows. This update features extensive changes to the user interface as well as a claimed 30 percent improvement in brush performance, including the Paint Brush, Airbrush and various retouching tools. Speed improvements have allowed for new instant previews of effects before they are applied to images and the 64-bit architecture allows fast performance with larger or multiple images. Read more
