AbrasiveReducer: If you're a realist, there are fewer Sony users at the Olympics. Nothing unusual or unexpected about that. If you're a Sony fan, these photos show something completely different. They indicate that Sony products fail so rarely, there is simply no need to have as many items to loan.

I think what it also helps to show is that you have more than a choice of two, Canon or Nikon. I'm sure other brand loyalists would love to see their choice of brand there too, gives validation to your choice, and also some confidence that if they're spending this big to show a presence and bring the kit to back it up, they're going to be investing heavily in all levels of camera body/lenses in the future.

Samuel Lucifer: Compared to both Canon and Nikon this Sony booth is tiny. It shows the near absence of Sony within this segment of photography.

Er, It's called a joke...get over it...!

Maybe they don't need as many repairs...? :P

Ed Jefferies: This makes sense to me. We already know there will be 6 FF models
R1
R3

R5
R6

RP replacement
Budget R camera ~$900

I'd like the real pros to tell us what they need. From what I've been told they do not want more MP because it makes their work more difficult and clients rarely want larger than 8MP.
Am I wrong, is that old thinking? I am not interested in what amateurs want. What does a working sports Pro think?

@Gannon - beautiful shots in your gallery - I prefer the thought that has gone in to these rather than the usual shots you see churned out on Autosport. Hope you get that credit for an F1 race soon, would love to see those shots!

I'm not a Canon user, but I'm actually disappointed it isn't a higher resolution, 30, 45 or 50mpix. It doesn't give the other competing manufacturers reason to up their game. I suppose it gives headroom for an R1 however.

Brilliant - that was really useful, especially the sound setup which seems like an art, and you've made it simple and accessible. Love the ending :0)

All looks good, but would really loved to have seen results from things in motion, i.e. sports or BIF. I still cant justify the Sony 100-400 in cost or 'look at me I have a white lens!' status and the 200-600 is just too much of both! The Sigma 100-400 I have seems ok, but the extra reach, and it seems quicker focussing of the Tamron looks tempting...

Indohydra: Just buy a Sony...

Jnd, maybe you need to spend above $5k to get something that works. Reliably.

Tom Holly: Why wouldn't canon add a thermal exhaust in the first place?

Probably so they can see you the higher price R3...?

Amazing tech, of that there's no doubt. Personally I'd like it used on something like FIFA21 so that the players look more realistic and dont have those staring haunting eyes rather than this which is just weird, and, if there is an afterlife and we can be haunted, they're going to be on their way to do so!

This is perfect for a pandemic. Shoot stuff in your house and replace the 'sky' so you look well-travelled....keeps you safe and sound...

Miike Dougherty: NX Pro doesn't run on WIN 7 PCs. It says that but I tried it anyway and it didn't work. 25% of PCs are WIN 7.

@Miike - antivirus software will be stopped for Windows 7 by some vendors. Some are already charging extra for extended support. Dont kid yourself that you can keep using it for years, you'll need to upgrade soon. A Windows 10 install without av is still safer that Win 7 without av. That and the fact that security patches will only be written for Win 10 is reason enough to upgrade. I would also never trust Norton or Avast as my key defence.

..."developed with no compromise"...except for the low res rear screen perhaps? And should it be fully articulating, yes/no? That's another argument/preference!

This is the resolution I expect as standard in the next Sony A1s and Canon R1x. At 50 fps.

So the A9ii becomes entry level? Here's hoping! :0)

tedolf: why is it so big?

Take a look at Voightlander's 35mm f/2 "snapshot" lens to see how big a 35mm full frame lens should be.

Tedolph

Does the Voightlander have AF though?
