treepop's current gear

Canon PowerShot S90
Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Sony a6500
Excited to start playing with this. While not as feature rich as s95 and s100, it has the best IQ of the bunch.
After ~7 years with this beautiful camera, it's still amazing. Not as amazing with video as it's current competition, but man does this camera still produce some beautiful images. Best bang for the buck, in my humble opinion.
Sony a7 III
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
Canon EF 35mm F2 IS USM
Great image quality. YOU NEED A MONO/TRIPOD!
I thought I would use this with video. I finally used this with the 70D and found out it was super noisy when focusing in video. For photos, it's just meh. I don't like the field of view, it's bigger than I thought it would be, it's just not as good as I had imagined. I thought this would be my be all end all lens for video and photos. It's not even close.
Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM
Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II
Canon EF 70-200mm F2.8L IS II USM
Love this lens. Phenomenal image quality. Love it's close focusing distance. Great lens for the money.
Great little lens. Cheap feeling. AMAZING performance.
I've had a ton of lenses in my life. This is hands down the sharpest, has the best contrast, and the best focusing of any lens I've ever used. The older I get, the more I appreciate this lens.
Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN | C (E/EF-M mounts)
Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E 24mm F1.8 ZA
Sony E 10-18mm F4 OSS
Sharpest lens for the Sony APS-C E mount system. If it wasn't so noisy in video, it would be the best bang for the buck for SURE. That said. The Sony 35mm f/1.8 takes that title for now. This is still sharper.
Dang it's expensive, but if you want great auto-focus in video. A fast aperture. And a VERY versatile field of view. You gata pay for it :(. Not as sharp as the Sigma 30 f/1.4.
Pretty spectacular for the money. EXTREMELY useful for vacations and travel videos/photos.
Sony E 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 PZ OSS
Sony E 20mm F2.8
Sony E 35mm F1.8 OSS
So bad.
Meh. Loads of vignetting, okay image quality. Not as good as I had hoped. Was hoping it would pair better with the a6500 than the a6300...it didn't. I never use it. Plan to sell it.
Best bang for the buck on the for the Sony APS-C E mount. Not as sharp as the Sigma 30 f/1.4, but still sharp with better auto-focus.
Sony FE 55mm F1.8 ZA Carl Zeiss Sonnar T*
Sony FE 85mm F1.8
Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Di III RXD
So sharp. I moaned about the price, but after seeing the quality and the size...I get the premium (sort of). I think MSRP of $699 is more in line.
Best bang for the buck for Sony full frame E mount. Razor sharp! Great features! Great price! This is what I'm talking about Sony! If you keep making this quality at this price range, you will dominate the market.
Best all around zoom for the a7 system. Love it.
Tamron SP 24-70mm F2.8 Di VC USD
Apple iPhone 6
Apple iPhone 7
Worth the money. VERY sharp great focus, nice bokeh (yes it's nice)
Pretty great for photos/video. Not as good as the 7, but really good. Much better than the 6s.
Best all around photo/video phone out there. IOS is also so much snappier than android.
Google Nexus 6
Nokia 808 Pureview
Nokia Lumia 1020
Love the HDR+ photos, but man does it shoot slow.
Not worth the trade off. Terrible os. Photos are good, but not great.
I think the pureview 808 is loads better. This has a terrible yellow hue to the photos when using a flash. The os is terrible. I don't get why people use this.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
Great phone. Great photo/video quality. Great screen.

treepop's previous gear

Canon EOS 550D (EOS Rebel T2i / EOS Kiss X4)
Canon EOS 60D
Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
Fantastic body, just a little too fragile for me.
underrated. Same batteries as 5D2. Flip out screen is nice. Feels GREAT in hand (I don't understand how reviews can say this camera feels plasticky. I think it feels BETTER than the 5DMark II)
Overpriced dust magnet
Canon EF-S 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
Tokina AT-X Pro 11-16mm f/2.8 DX
good optical quality, awesome range, light, too slow (f/3.5-5.6) :(
Decent optical quality and LIGHT!
Might keep as FF Prime
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF)
Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC HSM
Apple iPhone 6s
Very sharp. Great lens. Better than Canon 17-55 IS. And doesn't suck (in dust that is ;) )
Will probably sell for 50 1.4 (but is so nice on 60D)
